I was reading my Bible at work today...
And studying the teaching of Jesus, our Savior. When suddenly, a thought came to me. What if:
We Christians, around the nation, made an unofficial day or week sometime soon, to get to know somebody [such as a friend, or professor, or teacher], on a personal level. An atheist, or agnostic, or even a Muslim or somebody. [Of course ask for a parent to approve if you're under 18].
Take them to lunch, or dinner, or bowling or something. "National Unity Week"
The week of Nov 11th 2007.
Why? Well, these days, the gap in America is widening. Hate, oppression, and violence are becomming more common between secular, religious, and Christian groups. Why not take a day to show that Christians aren't the hateful people some make us out to be? Show others our love and kindess, our devotion to God, and the logic in our faith.
Arm ourselves with a shield of knowledge and wisdom from the Bible, to protect from any blows! A sword of kindness [for doesn't that open a heart much quicker than the dull axe of hatred?] to open them to our views! A helmet of humility to keep our heads in a humble place, a breastplate of devotion to save our hearts from strong attacks, and gauntlets of truth, to prevent us from losing our sword and shield to dishonesty!
Perhaps this could reduce some of the anti-Christian sentiment of others. As well as showing our witness, and introducing them to God!!!!!!
I personally want to put this on every online Christian forum, every church in my area, everywhere I can. And I hope others will do the same, if you like the idea. Flyers at church, tell your Christian buddies online, anyone you can!!!!!
Please see my idea, and if you like it, bulletin it, spread it to everyone you can. Maybe we can save more souls, and stop some of the hate and division seperating us all today.
Sorry, but I'm posting this in many places where I think it will reach those I want to see it. I apologize if I bothered you with it.
