hi sorry its taken me a while to get online!
my little boy Nathanael (meaning gift from God) finally arrived 8 days late on New Year's Day at 2.15pm after a 35 hr labour weighing 7lbs 14oz.
Waters broke at 4am on 31st Dec at 4am, things progressed very slowly, he was back to back which eventually made for a very painful labour. I'm not able to go into the full details but i got to 7cm myself with no pain relief (after being ignored completely by midwives in prenatal).
the midwiife led unit was closed and the whole maternity hospital was sooo busy, who said winter time was quieter to have babies!? anyway went to labour ward which had some lovely staff. I was finaly on gas and air and then asked for an epidural as i was very tired and couldnt sit or lie down because of him being back to back with me.
The epidural didn't take, stayed on gas and air. My veins all collapsed and i had 5 people stabbing me with venfluns and drips all over my body. Eventually i pushed for 30mins but the baby went into distress (turned out the cord was wrapped round his neck twice - read that in my notes when i got home).
Ended up having to get a spinal, they were going to try forceps but baby needed out sooner so had a section.
Was quite a traumatic time and completely different from my thoughts of trying for a waterbirth but he's so gorgeous and totally worth what i had to go through.
i'll try and post photos on here soon.
hope everyone is doing well.
