K... I just watched a sample clip from Toonami.com..... and yes, I hate his voice...

I watched the clip they had, and watched the original subbed version, the English speaking actors for lack of a better word, stink. They just don't fit the type of people that ninjas should be. And particularly Naruto, who is so energetic and talks with such emphasis all the time, the way he sounds is sort of boring. And the way Iruka and Mizuki said "Naruto" was just all wrong.

I just got into Naruto, I have watched the first fourteen episodes. I was wondering how many there are in total to see how much catching up I have to do.

Yeah it kind of reminds me of that radio commercial on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.... the one where they can teach you to speak red neck...
then it teaches you spanish in redneck... "Bueno" is pronounced, "Boowaino" or something...
And now "Naruto" is "Narootoe" or some odd thing...

Kawkawshi.... .... Sakewra... Oh man I hope not...

You had to expect the name pronunciation to change...... I was worried most about the changing of the different ninjitsu's & things such as changing "Hokage" to "head ninja" or something equally silly.

From the new longer trailer, yes they changed the pronuciations but I was expecting that. The Japanese put the emphasis on different parts then the english (something a lot of the kids in my high school class had problems with) but Hokage is still hokage and while they did change the ninjitsu names, I will wait to see the first episode to make my opinion.

Remember, that they aren't bringing this out in North America to make people happy, they are doing it to make money! This means making it as marketable to the largest group possible....not just the anime fans. This means that they will make changes to make it more interesting to a younger fan base. This is just the way it is......

As far as the voices, I don't think that the VA for Naruto is that bad. From what I can hear in the comercial, she doesn't do a bad job. Naruto is an 11 yr old kid in the beginning of the anime and he is supposed to sound hyperactive because face it....that's what Naruto is! What are the "she sucks" people honestly expecting?!?!?!?!

Naruto's v/a is new at it, she probably just needs time to get into the role.

I'm sure you probably are right about it still being Hokage, SquekyGerbil, but on the Toonami.com list of Ninja ranks it is titled just Kage... or something.

Yeah, I expected the pronunctiations to change, too.. it just hurts to actually hear it... They should have kept it Konoha instead of Leaf Village :S Can't be helped though, I guess.

But I thought of something... I know they are in it for money, and it does appear to be a kids show (Now...) but If it were me (which I know it's NOT, but this is my opinion ^^) I would go to Anime Forum sites and fan sites and look up what people are saying on the anime. What the love and hate.

If they would do that they'd see how to keep the series based more on a teen/adult audience.
Like in AnimeForums.com you'll notice the vast majority is teens, to early adult. Aswell as some 50 yr old guy (He's a cool dude ).
Then on Narutofan.com and Narutochaos.com...

If a company wants to dub a series that they know is extremely popular in the underground (Which they stated they already knew) then should check out what the already into it fans would say.

But don't get me wrong here, I'm still going to give it a chance to see how it is up to the fight where Naruto's 9-tail fox demon power is unleashed for the first time (My favorite scene). Because this will be the first actual fight for life and death he'll be in, aswell as usage of sound effects, and music, and battle shouts.

So yes, I am still going to give the English version a chance.

As a hard-core Naruto fan, I shall give the Dubbed version a chance.

But if it goes as bad as One Piece did, I shall burn down Viz's headquarters in the future

You know that they're going to keep in the original background music and probably he opening too? xD And it already has a dvd relase date. That stuff alone makes me hopeful.

That is actually the proper term, Kage. The "ho" part just states which village.

Yes, but that would still keep it aimed at the anime fanbase which while it's larger than it was say 10-15 yrs ago (when anime was seen as only being watched by overweight 30 yr old single men living in their parents basement), is still a relatively small group in comparison to kids. A smart move would be to have to versions released in DVD, one with the version shown to kids & another that is closer to the original for the older fans. I mean anime fans are still going to watch at least the dub no matter how painful. Change it a bit & they get the "kid" audience and up the profits.

Now I know that they're going to start with the first 52 episodes and all... but once it reaches 52 are they going to show it again from ep. #1?
That would be kind of annoying waiting another 51/52 weeks just to see the next season... Though maybe it's just because they still need to dub the rest...

How long would it take to dub 52 episodes anyway (Seriously... I want to know o0)

I still shudder at the thought of the cencoring... I mean... what's going to happen with Gaara... "Desert Funeral!" *no blood rain*.... WAAAAH!

They could just do what DBZ did the first episodes they dubbed... "I'm going to send you to... another dimension!!" instead "I'm going to kill you!" *gasp*

I'm watching the dubbed Naruto now.... geez did you hear Hinata's voice? And notice the blood cencor from the sexy-jutsu?

Well now I know what to expect, but as a kids show, it's ok

They blood-censored Mizuki when he's laying on the ground after getting beat up by Naruto. There's supposed to be blood on the ground, but the ground was clean in the English version. And yeah no blood from the nose with Sexy No Jutsu. I wish it was Kage Bunshin No Jutsu instead of Shadow Clone Jutsu. I couldn't get over how they pronounced "Naruto", it just sounds so wrong. And something about the English speaking actors, the dialogue sounds so cheesy and corny most of the time, only a few times was it realistic and good.

I'd give it a 4/10 from seeing the first 2 episodes thus far.
