Ok... I know it's great that it's here in america so people can get the DVD's and listen to the original japanese version..... and I say that because I just heard Naruto's official verse... and one syllable comes to mind....

EWWW!!!!

It's like.... that rubber boy from One Piece... it fits him, but not Naruto.... ugh, this is what I get for watching the japanese version from ep 1-150 and then it comes to america.... T_T *cries*

I mean... it's not a BIG deal... considering I still have online.... so I can keep watching it on Narutofan.com and stuff....
But still, it's like watching the Monalisa get turned from a work of art to a picture of smiling poo steaming...

Erm, it was three words dude. I wouldn't judge the dub intill the first few eps are out. Remember, these people are still getting used to their roles.

And this was a scene either from their first accidental S-rank mission, or their exam.

lol i would never watch an american dub for the life of me so i have nothing to worry about ^.^

But I wasn't referring to the entire series... just his voice.

Now I'm not criticizing, and I do agree that most dubs aren't as good as the jap. original...
BUT, I have seen some anime where the dubs were tons better than the orig..

Cowboy Bebop was one.
Outlaw star wasn't better, but I think that the eng. and jap. was even as far as the voices.

But I've just now come to realise that it's adult voices that are so easy to find people to dub. for. When it comes to kids, it's harder...
You can't exactly expect to hire a kid the same age to come in... few people can strain their voice like that... and when they do it turns out to be a woman (nothing against them, but a lot of male kid voices are women).

I'm not trying to vent, it's just my opinion

Look at gohan from DBZ. He had the same voice from age 5 all the way through puberty o0.

How can you judge a voice by a partial sentance? Give it at least a few episodes so the va can get used to the role.

If a stranger walks buy and says, "Hello" you have offically heard their voice. It's their only voice, they will never have another one, and if you ever imagine them talking in your head, it's that exact voice you would hear come from their mouth. Whether it was high, or low, that is what their voice sounded like.

Man I'm behind in this thread.

First off, that pic is fanart. It's a popular fanart and I'm glad to finally see the full sized but it's still a fan art. Manga readers have a bit more of a clue what at least some of the characters look like when they get older and that pic isn't it. As far as the copyright sign, it's the artist covering their bum. That symbol should be on a lot more fan-art to be honest.

I really think we need a manga readers thread because personally, I can't really contribute too much from the recent episodes because after the first filler arc I stopped watching.

As far as the voices for the dub, I will watch the dub because I'm of an age where I've seen seriously scary (ie. Badly done) dubs and if I can remain a fan after some of the dubs I've seen/heard then I can remain a fan through the Naruto english voice acting now matter if they do well or not. It won't be the same but I am interested to see how they do.
I do understand the frustration from watching an anime that your familiar with and not wanting to watch the dub because anything other than the "original" voice just feels wrong. I actually can't watch the bleach anime because it shares a voice actor with Naruto (the guy who does the voice for Sasuke). Most the time it doesn't bug me too much though.

Saskue will return but I don't think it is going to be all pink and rosy. Reading the manga from the beginning, it's more noticable that Naruto has slowly gotten darker.

You can't watch Bleach just because of Sasuke and Ishida's same voice actor?!?!?!? Lately the episodes coming out for Bleach have been SO AWESOME and AMAZING that I'm almost starting to like Bleach better than Naruto. Ishida isn't in too many episodes past the beginning ones where you first meet him. Trust me it is SO worth bearing with it just to see how great an anime Bleach really is.

Quantum_Man - I'm an avid manga reader so I know how much the story kicks bum but I just can't handle the anime because of the voice actor.

BrotherAtArms- Yes they are still teenagers but the difference isn't that big from when they were pre-teens.

1. This is a voice actor, it is not her real voice.
2. VAs do change over time. Think about Ash's voice from pokemon.
3. I still think it's very low class of you to judge someone's entire vocal range by three words. The scene used in the commercial could have had somthing to do with the tone. :/ He wasn't saying "Hello! I'm Naruto!", he said "What is this..."

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just saying not to be so hasty to judge. When you have more proof that his voice sucks, then you can gripe about it all you want and I won't object. This dub is done by the same guys that have dubbed Cowboy Bebob, so I have alot of faith in them. Just give them a chance here, geez. >___>

Yeah..ash's voice in the first several eps I loved, I hate the way it sounds now, but that's just me.

CN has a new preview on their site, and by what I can tell, it keeps all the original music, but edited out some blood on umm whats his face's face. >>

but I still have high hopes for it.

I understand what you're saying, but the fact that Naruto's voice is from a voice actor makes an even higher chance of the voice not changing unless they got a new voice actor like what also happened in DBZ. I don't think Maile is going to change her voice tone during the later episodes from what it was in the beginning.
And I'm not judging anything or anyone, I heard his voice with, "What is this?" and a scream he did, and I've heard a couple of grunts from him in action.

Also I've heard Maile's many other characters (I've posted this clip earlier in this thread) In which most of all sound exactly the same (Atleast all the 12 yr old boy characters, not including the old woman she did), just with different accents.
So I think I'm safe in knowing what Naruto's voice sounds like.
So just don't worry about my personnal opinion about it, I'm not speaking for you or anyone else, I'm speaking for me.

But I'm still going to watch it.
Which brings me to another thing that I recently thought of. With Naruto coming to America, I'm looking forward to the many possible merchandise that will be sold. T-shirts, DVDs, CDs, keychains, and hopefully (And I say this with extremely high hopes) the video game (Which look awsome, and my friend who's actually got the game in Canada ((She's from Japan)) says it's fun fun fun).
