 Saw the movie last week and really enjoyed it. My wife and I are reading the series to each other before we go to sleep. I think anyone who reads the Magicians Nephew first will have a better understanding of who the witch is and how the wardrobe became a portal to Narnia.

I mentioned to my secetary that I was going to see it and she got all defensive. She started talking about about how evil the movie was. I was at a loss of words. She said that she had received an e-mail from her sister with a whole bunch of quotes from CS Lewis. According to her the quotes basically said that the books were written to say that a better God would have done better than the True Almighty. I told her that the quotes must have been taken out of context or that they were not really even quotes from Lewis. She just argued and made a comment, that Tolkien and the aurther of the Harry Potter books are both admirers of Lewis and that people that wrote books on witchcraft couldnt possibly support a writer for Christian books. Has anyone ever had this reaction from someone. I tried to explain the allegory and symbolism, but she just refused to listen.

I probably should add that she goes to a church that teaches that God will turn your teeth filling into gold as a blessing.

well, that last line should say it all. Pray that God opens her eyes and gets her out of that church! And I wouldn't try arguing with her, because I don't think she'll listen rationally.

While it's true that Lewis held some unconventional beliefs, he was still an awesome man of God, and many wonderful bits of truth can be gleaned from his writings.
