• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Does anyone know anything about Narconon rehab centers? I've heard they take an alternative approach to CD therapy.

What is CD therapy? What are Narconon rehabs and how do they differ from regular rehabs?

Narconon is run by the Church of Scientology, a new-age religous movement with roots in buddhism and gnosticims.

The program itself, from what I gather, involves replacing drugs with running and exercise. I have a book on it but haven't been bothered to read it.

They also have you command ashtrays to "stand up" and "sit down" in a loud voice, without reservation. They do this for hours each day. It's in preparation for recruitment into the church. As ridiculous and bizarre as the therapy seems, they are spread across the country and are recognized by our court system as legit. My oh My, whats this world coming to. Narconon is nothing more than a cleverly disguised front for the church of Scientology. They vehemently deny they have anything to do with Scientology, it's a lie. All of the methodology is based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard/ Dianetics. They are about nothing more than an ideology, indoctrination and recruitment.

So the OP was just for opinions with you already knowing about this, how shall I put it, nonsense? Are you in recovery Bill? If so, what program or modality/s do you use to stay clean and/or sober?
