  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

oh wow, poor thing, I hope I don't go over like you lol

I'd say, the obvious of diapers, wipes, burp rags, bag for smelly diapers, unless throwing it away right away, pacifier is using one, bottles and extras if using those, if BF'ing lanolin and nursing pads... change or 2 outfit for the just in case poopy explosion, butt cream, and maybe some sun screen? that's all I can think of at the moment

If you are breastfeeding- a bottle of water. Water demand is very high and that way you've always got one with you.
oh good point, i'm not too bad at getting my daily intake of water but i know i need to drink more and i want to breastfeed at least for the first 6 months and hopefully for the first full year.

I need to get into good water drinking habits :0)

If you have room I would recomment throwing an extra top in for you aswell.... I have seen occassionally - enough to make me think of it...

you know how Thankful4Him mentioned the poopy explosion... I have seen the results of this land on a poor unsuspecting Mum when changing the nappy in a public changeroom. A spare top for you wouldn't go astray... Just to be sure

an extra top is also handy if the nursing pads don't quite cut it!! It can be a bit difficult to find ones that fit you comfy and soak up enough...
It kind of depends on where you're going and how long your going out for, but basically whatever you would usually use for feeding, changing, settling + sleeping bubs... I would take at least 3 more nappies than you think you'll need, at least 2 or 3 nappy bags/plastic bags (to use for dirty nappies or dirty clothes), a change mat and a cloth to put over it, always an extra blanket comes in handy... um, i didn't really use any lotions unless she got a rash, so just pack what you are using at home... water and a snack for you just in case! You'll get the hang of it pretty quickly!

Kaz, the best nappy rash cream you can use for bubs is PawPaw Ointment. It's natural, no chemicals, and you can buy it from the chemist. Our female doc recommended it to us for DD, and we still use it on her. Fantastic stuff, and also makes your hands/fingers super-soft after putting it on bubs (even after washing your hands).

Get it at a chemist - comes in a little bright red tub with black writing on it. Smells unusual when you first open it, but seriously, I highly recommend it. And it's good for baby's bum. What more could you want?
