First time I saw it I didn't like it. I felt uptight and uncomfortable the whole time. I kept seeing him make a fool of himself. Reminded me a lot of some of the guys I hung out with in early Junior High. Let's just say we spent our lunch hour in the computer lab, k? Of course and this was back in 1990 before the Internet got big...but one of my friends did have a BBS address...now THAT's geek.

I've seen it now about 3-4 times and I've had plenty of laughs at his expense.

I have to add that I watched it with my daughter who laughed and could relate to stuff with kids like this at school but for me--I merely laughed at the stupidity of him.I giggled at the chicken coop and dragging toy on the bus scenes..yes ,that made me crack up.

Funny or pathetic? I wished for him to get some inner confidence help.Of course it's just a film and we like to laugh at others..that's why this film was so popular with the middle school kids.typical.
It's very popular with college students too. Heck, I remember being like Napoleon and Kip and I had no trouble laughing at them.

ND.... Napolean Dynamite.... I didnt feel like typing out the whole name. Perhaps I should have....

I see... it struck me more as being shy/bashful than creative.

Did anyone else think Nap. and Pedro sounded like D&D nerds? I can see it now....

Nap: Hey Pedro...

Pedro: Yeah?

You wanna come over to my place and play some dungeons and dragons?

Sure.... sounds pretty sweet...

Yeah....

Maybe... we should get someone to be dungeon master for us.

Why?

Because like.... its kinda boring... cuz we the only two people.... and one of us has to be dungeon master.

Yeah...
Lol probably so... there's a surprising amount of RPGers out here. (living very near to preston)

probably ten years down the road it will probably the most funny movie for me, but currently one can't stand to watch it.

What's really funny is that earlier this year they had the Napoleon Dynamite festivals, and people from all over the US came to attend (this is hearsay, but, it was run by some guy from kentucky or tennessee (can't remember which))... and how also phrases like "That's Ginormus!" are almost the norm here now...

A few do, the majority don't (at least not yet... but the dress here is pretty modest compared to many many other places, probably because of the LDS background of the area) although the creative things they do to invite someone on a date is pretty popular. Stuff like filling someone's car with styrofoam beans and invitation letters.
