• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyone else thinking of participating in NaNoWriMo? (National Novel Writing Month, for those who don't know, the object being to crank out a 50,000 word novel in the 30 days of November.) I think I might do it... anyone else going to? :)

You write pretty much on whatever you want-- there aren't any prompts involved. (Ugh, I hated those prompt thingies in those dumb writing assessments!) There's some sort of means by which you can update your word count, though... just check out the site. :D

Hi! I'm not sure if I'll do it this year! I did do it last year, however! It was a good challenge, and you'd be surprised with the support you get when you let others know you're doing it! I got so much support and people would always ask me how my novel was coming. I just might do it again this year if I can think of a novel to write! You can see my NaNoWriMo project from last November at the following URL - www . geocities . com / kagomeshuko / nanowrimo . html

(take out the spaces - it won't let me post URLs yet :( )

hi Bridget, i read the opening of your nano project. Must be fun doing it. :)

they also have nano regional meet up, LF. I missed the last one in Sydney as i was busy on that day.

there's no check on the word count process i think, but a check for the final word count when you submit the finished piece. You update your own count as you go.

Yes, it is quite fun if you can find the time. I somehow found it. I was doing this while in college and having homework and other commitments, yet I managed to complete the NaNoWriMo project. You do just update your own word count until the end of the project when you put it in for verification and the website verifies your word count.

I'd always update my word count when I finished a chapter and then I'd post it online, too.

Me? Do NaNo? Meh, not this year. :) *grumbles minor curses about not hearing from the two places she's interviewed at* Though Isliel is demanding that I write a book about her... she won't leave me alone!

Does anyone else have characters that continuously torment them? ;)

I've never heard of NaNoWriMo before. It sounds interesting, but I don't think I have the self-discipline and perseverence and singlemindedness and all that to write an entire novel in thirty days. For those of you who can, you have my utmost respect. :)
