We saw the new version of Nancy Drew in the theater yesterday. There were six people there including us. Nevertheless, being an old ND fan and somewhat of a buff I was impressed on how in the midst of a modern setting they were able to incorporate a real Nancy Drew story like the ones I have read.
All of the ingredients were there: a will, a parent in distress, a semi-haunted mansion, a car chase, kidnapping, Ned, a hidden passage and staircase, a good guy who seemed bad and a bad guy who seemed good, a villian, plenty of 'scooping', pals in admiration of ND, her blue roadster (this time a hybrid), and, of course, a mystery to be solved.
All the characters were in character especially this wonderful new actress...Emma Roberts (yep, Julia's niece) who plays Nancy.
