Naming My Baby

There's a name that my husband and I really love. It's the name of a deceased church figure that we both really admire. It also happens to be the name of my cousin. My cousin and I aren't very close. We may talk once every 5 years. He lives a couple thousand miles away.

So my question is... Do you think that it's necessary to run this by the cousin before naming our baby the same name? We wouldn't be naming our child after him - it would just be a coincidence.

Your kid, your choice. My mom's family has tons of men with the same 2 names (William or David).

I think you can use the same name for your baby as your cousin name. There is no any problem to use the same name for the baby that already use in your family. I think you have to go for it.

If we have a boy, we'll be doing the exact same thing. When my mum told my uncle (the cousin's father), he said "Of course that's the name they've chosen. It's a good name!" haha. Oddly enough, one of the girls' names we're considering is very similar to the name of his daughter.
