  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Name three ways that you habitually try to be nice to others.

1.) Various courtesies, such as not blocking entrances when I am in a line of traffic.

2.) Consciously trying to keep complaining at a minimum--only complaining when it would be irresponsible not to complain or after I am sure that I can't tolerate something any longer without compromising my well being.

3.) Leaving big tips for restaurant servers, pizza delivery people, etc.

If for one hour you could have the undivided attention of the leader of your city, state or country, what are three things that you would tell him or her?

Always consider how policy will affect the little people.
Be wise as a serpent but innocent as a dove.
Aim for creative collaboration rather than winning through political strong-arm tactics.

Road trip question: Name three places you'd go if you were given a free car, free gas, free lodging and a month of free time.

I don't know about lessons, but I sure loved those craft projects as a kid!

I'll give you three spiritual lessons I've found most helpful:

1. God loves us unconditionally. Always has, always will - every minute of your life. Remember this when the world makes you feel like "heck."

2. We are blessed by God so that we can be a blessing to others. The blessings aren't supposed to end with us being all fat and happy.

3. I exist for God, not the other way around. This a tough lesson. A BIG lesson. My life is His, for His purposes, for His glory. It's not about me.

Moving to a slightly different topic... Name three foods you buy at the grocery store that you consider a bit of a luxury or treat.

FJD, you're a man of many moods these days! Everything okay?

About the doldrums ... I typically

1. Journal/pray
2. Talk to a friend about it
3. Get some exercise
4. Do something I usually enjoy, like listen to peppy music (Beach Boys works), read a good author, listen to a good radio show, etc.

OK. So I can't count. Go ahead 'n' sue me.

Name three things that you've heard are relaxing but you're never (or rarely) done.
