The Pilgrim's Progress — I echo little_tigress's and TwistTim's sentiments: this is a really good book. It seems to touch on every aspect that we find in our lives as believers. It's never going to be outdated.

Dune — again, agreeing with Ukrainia and metherion: another classic sci-fi that I've read multiple times. Action and mystery, etc. Just a good read.

The Mortification of Sin — a book to read when you feel at all like you're doing well; you'll quickly discover that you're not. This book was hammering my soul pretty much at every page. I wrote down a bunch of excellent quotations from the book, but found this little note of mine: "all of chapters 4, 5, and 6." Evidently, I found every word in those three chapters worth hanging on to.

The Time Traveler's Wife was amazing. Between Friends and Eve's Daughters are excellent as well.

Honorable mentions include Anne of Green Gables (the entire series), The Historian, and Welcome to the World, Baby Girl.

For some reason I've always loved L.M. Montgomery, an odd thing for a boy. I read and loved all of the actual Anne books (where she was the main character). I think I stopped with some book about Rilla of some place or other. But then again, I'm unusually drawn to stories with heroines. My own writing tends to have female main characters. Gosh...Anne Shirley...it's been probably 12 years since I've picked up one of those books.

It's interesting that The Pilgrim's Progress is on here. It's one of those books - unfortunately only one of many - that I bought awhile back and is currently gaining dust on my bookshelf. I just never opened it. I'm happy to hear it's great and I'll have to read it soon.

The Historian is another book mentioned on here I have and haven't opened. I will check it out.

And the third I've seen here that I have but haven't read, at least not fully, is Crime and Punishment. This one I actually did start and made my way through the first hundred or so pages. I found the book to be quite depressing, but normally that wouldn't stop me from reading it so maybe I'll give it another shot. I also got through only some of Dostoyevsky's The Brother's Karamozov. That one was utterly fascinating, but for whatever reason I was busy at the time and never got more than 150 pages in. I definitely see why Dostoyevsky's works are compelling so one of these days I'll actually have to finish one of his books.

I don't want to limit this to a particulary catagory. For instance you could name something that made you overhaul a longstanding opinion, or just a ripping good yarn, a historical biography or poetry. Any 3 books that made you go "wow!"

Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut. I loved his writing style, and the amount of topics covered and the way he covered them really inspired me to keep on writing throughout high school.

Charismatic Chaos by John MacArthur. It was like every problem I ever had with the Word of Faith and TBN guys for all my life was written in one book. Made me feel relieved that guys with big degrees out there agreed with me. I've still been meaning to write MacArthur a special thank you for that.

Systematic Theology by Charles Hodge. Actually I'm still reading this, but it's already blown me away several different ways. ^_^
