CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

By the way--just 2 days ago was the 51st anniversary of the day the music died. Yes, Feb 3, 1959 was the day that, in the early morning hours, a plane crash claimed the lives of The Big Bopper, Richie Valens, and, of course, Buddy Holly.

Jerry Lee Lewis also did Chantilly Lace, and I don't know why I associate him doing it more than Big Bopper. Didn't know that Big Bopper was killed with Buddy Holly. ( I should probably know more about Buddy Holly than I do cuz my hometown is Lubbock, Tx where Buddy Holly was from.)

Did you know that Waylon Jennings was suppossed to be on that plane? But, he had given his seat to Richie. Just before takeoff, Buddy kidded Waylon (who was taking the tour bus--bad condition, heater was not working), and told him that he hoped the bus broke down. Waylon shot back, with, "Well, I hope your plane crashes." It took years for him to get over that statement.
