Personally,
Other than terror, that is the fear of fear itself, I am most afraid of being utterly pointless. In the complete denial of my own self-important promotion, what if, as is almost surely the case, I am utterly cosmically irrelevant? If any deeds of significance that might have been done by one occupying my space in time will, in the absence of performance by myself, be necessarily and sufficiently performed by others?
What if the price of my self-determination and free will is that all of my actions, my dreams, my hopes and aspirations are ultimately and surely without impact?
