If we would dare summarize who God is based even only on this short list of names, these titles alone would provide a wonderful revelation of the greatest being—the almighty, peaceful, high, exalted, eternal, and righteous God. He knows and sees all His creatures and faithfully protects and provides for their needs.

Moreover, in the New Testament, we can behold with greater focus the character of God as revealed through Jesus. This was one of His prime objectives in coming to our world—to reveal through His life who the Father is. This is why Jesus said to Philip, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9 NKJV).

It is so hard for SDA to understand the word ELOHIM because we have been indoctrinated in to a Hellenistic culture. This culture wanted to take its former pantheon of gods and change them into this one hypostasis that have three persons? So many of out there who believes like this why? Explain to me why this is such a touchy subject! Adventists do you believe in "THREE SEPARATE BEINGS" or "three persons"? If you believe in three persons please explain it to me what the Bible meant: Let US make man? Who are the "US" in Genesis? In 1John the Bibles says that there are THREE that bear record what does that mean? We have inboxes if we cannot talk about this on the forum. If not I have a hotmail address contact me. I would still like to know--What did Adam and Eve call God?? What did the angels and other worlds created long before Adam and Eve call God?? Were they all talking Hebrew before there were Jews? Is Hebrew then the universal, intergalactic Language of the universe??
After the flood, all spoke the same language, which God changed into many, was the language Hebrew? After the language mixed up, did God continue with the Hebrew language to a select few even though there still were no Jews? What did the people who's languages were confused call God? Did Abraham, the father of the Jews, speak Hebrew?
Please provide scripture with the answers, but you can just go ahead and say what you think also.

Theology Of "The Name." (Phil 2:9)

In calling Jesus “Lord,” a person could have been using that term in one of several ways.

The Greek word kurios is used in the New Testament with reference to an owner (Luke 19:33),one who has disposal of anything (Matthew 12:8), a master to whom service is due (Matthew 6:24), an emperor or king (Acts 25:26; Revelation 17:14), a title of respect for a father (Matthew 21:30), husband (I Peter 3:6), master (Matthew 13:27), ruler (Matthew 27:63), angel (Acts 10:4),a stranger (Acts 16:30), a designation of a pagan idol or deity (ICorinthians 8:5), as well as a translation of the name of God from the Old Testament: (Jehovah, Matthew 4:7; Adonai, Matthew 1:22, and Elohim, I Peter 1:25).

There is no indication that Christians used this term "Lord" for anyone but Jesus, suggesting it was used as a recognition of His deity. Using the Lord's name in vain would in fact be more like using it over and over a gain, every couple of minutes, to the point where it becomes a serious distraction, and we can see this a lot with people who insist on only calling God one certain name. If the Bible uses all the different names for God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit,) then it is God's word one defies when insisting everyone only use the name "Elohim", for eg.

By insisting only on Elohim, we negate all the other characteristics of God that are enveloped by all the other BIBLE NAMES for God that I have been listing. I think too that the "name" of Jesus also refers to His character. "Name" can and does refer also to character or reputation, and this can be seen in all the names I have been submitting here.

The translation of Hebrew titles Jehovah, Adonai, and Elohim by the Greek word kurios (Lord) emphasizes that these titles of God in the Old Testament are also to be included in the names of Jesus.

The use of the word kurios in this way recognizes that several rights belong to Jesus.

First, there is the right to respect. This word was commonly used as an address of respect not only to those in authority, such as kings and fathers, but even to strangers.

Secondly, there is the right to be served.

When one used the title “Lord,” it normally expressed a willingness to serve the person or idol so addressed.

A third implied right is the right of disposal. As owner, a lord could dispose of his property in any way he saw fit. This is an important concept to remember in the area of our stewardship of the Lord's resources.

Fourth, the right to rule and hold authority over others is also implied in the name “lord.”

In the cultural context of that day, a lord had absolute authority over his subjects. When Jesus was called “Lord” by Christians, who reserved that word as a title of deity, each of the four above rights were intensified in their experience.

The use of this name is significant in the lives and experience of the disciples,particularly in three instances. When Jesus told Peter to let down his nets, Peter respectfully addressed Jesus as “Master” and consented to let down a net (Luke 5:5). That he let down only one net suggests he was doing so merely as a courtesy to Jesus and did not expect to catch anything. Later, when the net broke because of the size of the catch and Peter realized Jesus was more than just another religious teacher, he addressed Jesus as “Lord” (Luke 5:8).

His affirmation of faith in Jesus as Jehovah El of the Old Testament is the apex of the Gospel of John and the highest statement of deity yet attributed to Jesus. I think, after some study from the Bible, that Jesus' favorite name is 'Holy Spirit."'

Obviously he thought of the Third Person of the Trinity as the Holy Spirit because of His title. But is a title the same thing as a name? The title "Father" for the First Person of the Trinity is designated a name (see John 17:1). This was Jesus' favorite name for God.

The Second Person of the Trinity is Jesus: "You shall call His name Jesus" (Matt. 1:21). Yet, Jesus' favorite name for Himself was "Son of Man," a title He used more than any other.

The name or title "Spirit" is used approximately 500 times in Scripture in reference to the Third Person, and the combined term "Holy Spirit" is used approximately 100 times. The expression "Holy Ghost," used 91 times in the King James Version, should be translated Holy Spirit.

Jesus' favorite name for the Holy Spirit was probably "Helper." Of all the things the Holy Spirit does, He helps us obtain the personal salvation that was accomplished for us on the Cross.

In the King James Version, the name "Helper" is translated "Comforter." Jesus promised, "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever" (John 14:16). The Greek word "helper" is parakletos, and May be translated "helper, comforter,advocate or one called alongside." This term is related to the compound verb with the prefix para meaning "alongside" and the verbal base kaleo meaning "to call."

Although the name "Helper" for the Holy Spirit occurs only four times, I think it is Jesus'favorite name because it best identifies what the Holy Spirit does. Each time this name is used in Scripture, it is used by Jesus Christ (see cf. John 14:16,26; 15:26; 16:7). Jesus repeated the name "Helper" during the Upper Room Discourse, perhaps the most intimate of all the recorded sermons of Christ. I think it is Jesus' favorite name for the Holy Spirit because it relates to salvation.

The Bible has understanding for mankind and not for just one group or ethnic people. Before I give you Scriptures that are there the word god still does not relate to the words YAHWEH ELOHIM NAME. If HE is HOLY to Moses HE was the same to Adam, Seth, Noah, Abraham and to Moses. I just do not understand why it is so hard to realize went to Israel and was made to labor on the Sabbath as well as other things they forgot who YAHWEH was. As a historian I have learned that Abraham culture included the worship of YAHWEH and this Name and abbreviation of the name has been found before Moses. But to say that the word god in replace of HIS HOLY NAME is wrong and we know the truth about this word. Here first is an outside source as well as Scriptures because history back up the Word.

You know mmksparbud to me it is simple. If Satan changed the Sabbath which is Holy then he will change YAHWEH ELOHIM'S name. Why so we could become worshipers of his name instead of the correct ONES. This Command came before the Sabbath to warn us that man would attempt to do this very act. The Jews started it when HE did not give them a command not to speak or read HIS NAME. They took it upon themselves to replace it with Lord that was used to call on Baal. YAHWEH never used el but ELOAH in the single form. Once again people tampered with the Holy Writ, but the truth will be discover and shown. It so strange to me that ELOHIM which is plural refers to THREE and not just one. El mean mighty ones ELOHIM means ALMIGHTY ONES. So name here is the next unsound error and the truth is right in the meaning of the word. God the Father: God the eternal Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation. (Now this does not make sense if all THREE Created?) He is just and holy, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. The qualities and powers exhibited in the Son and the Holy Spirit are also revelations of the Father.

God the Son: God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Through Him all things were created, (Now this imply jus HE is the ONE who created) the character of God is revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged. Forever truly God, He became also truly man, Jesus the Christ.

God the Holy Spirit: God the eternal Spirit was active with the Father and the Son in Creation, (Now this makes sense that all THREE Created) incarnation, and redemption. He inspired the writers of Scripture. He filled Christ's life with power. He draws and convicts human beings; and those who respond He renews and transforms into the image of God.

You have provided no proof that the dozens of names I have quoted from the Bible, are somehow deceptions of satan to decieve us into worshipping the wrong name. The Bible is very clear on what these many different names all mean, and you are preaching a false message here, very much like the Jehovah's Witnesses on this point; except that you have picked on a different name. You are destroying God's personality by insisting we only call Him Elohim. There is nothing in the Bible that tells us we need to do such a thing. rather; the Bible declares the many names of God and leaves it up to us to accept their description of God's personality and characteristics that are bound up in His names. It is a little surprising, however, that the title Redeemer is never used of Jesus in the New Testament although its verbal form occurs both in the Gospels and Epistles in connection with His work of redemption (Luke 1:68; 24:21; Galatians 3:13; 4:5; Titus 2:14; I Peter 1:18; Revelation 5:9; 14:3,4).

This name was, nevertheless, a popular title in the Old Testament, particularly in the Psalms (Job 19:25; Psalm 19:14). Although the New Testament does not call Jesus Redeemer, it certainly emphasizes His work of redemption throughout. The term redemption comes from a word which means to buy back. Christ gave His blood as a ransom for sin; by it He redeems the lost (I Peter 1:18-20). In the context of soteriology, the price of redemption is blood which is paid to procure the remission of sins (Hebrews 9:12,22). The Greek words for redeemed denote the purchase ofservants in the ancient slave market. The Bible applies the terms to the redemption of all men.

First, the Bible teaches that Christ purchased the sinner in the marketplace. The verb agorazo means to go to the marketplace (agora) and pay the price for a slave. The verb was common in deeds of sale and generally meant the paying of a price for a group of slaves. Those who were sold under sin are redeemed (Galatians 3:10). Each of the following Scriptures usesthe term agorazo: Revelation 14:3,4 speaks of the 144,000 as those redeemed from the earth; Revelation 5:9 notes that Christ's blood was the price paid for redemption; and 11 Peter 2:1 shows that Christ redeemed (paid the price) not only for the saved but also for the false teachers.

Agorazo is simply the payment, the purchase price-the price of redemption, which is blood.

A second word in the Bible for redemption is ekagorazo, meaning to buy out from the marketplace. The prefix ek means out. Therefore, this term refers to the fact that Christ paid the price with His blood and bought the slave out of the marketplace of sin. The slave was never again exposed to sale (Galatians 3:13). When Christ took man out from under the Law, He placed him in a different relationship with God by providing for him the opportunity to become an adopted son of God (Galatians 4:5).
Ekagorazo emphasizes the removal of the curse of the Law Galatians 3:13; 4:5).

The third word which refers to redemption is lutrao. This word means to pay the price for the slave and then release him (Galatians 4:5). It emphasizes the freedom that Christ brings to those whom He redeemed. This verb suggests that Christ works to separate us completely from all sin (Titus 2:14).

A consideration of each of these terms and the contexts in which they appear in the New Testament indicates Christ has provided redemption for all people by the shedding of His own blood (Hebrews 9:12). That redemption includes the price of redemption (agorazo), removalfrom the marketplace of sin (ekagorazo), and the provision of liberty to the redeemed (lutrao).

This is the work of the Redeemer. But the sinner is not prepared to go to Heaven until he/she responds by faith to the Redeemer.

There are so many meanings to God's name/s in the Bible that it totally destroys te Biblical context and meaning to insist that we substitute them all with Elohim. That just is not correct, and it's not advised in the Bible...

As I have mentioned, Jehovah's Witnesses insist on us calling God by only one name too - the name they say is "Jehovah," in much the same way as those who insist on us calling God only Elohim." Such ones need to take a closer look at Scripture:

The word Elohim is not mentioned or required anywhere in all these texts. If, for example, we try to substitute any of these preminent pronouns with the word Elohim, we make it impossible to know exactly who is being referred to in the text. The same will happen if we try to substitute the many names of God with the word Elohim.

And note I called Elohim a word. it is just a word like all the other names or pronouns for God. Saying that parts of the Bible are authored by Satan just because the word Lord or God is used is just wrong on many fronts. It is a direct attack on the Bible itself. And substituting all the places in the spirit of prophecy where Ellen White uses the words Lord or God with the word Elohim is a direct attack on the integrity of her writings, and their intended context.

I have not made any accusations at all. But it is apparent that you choose not to believe EGW who said not me that men had change words in the Bible. I am not here to argue with you on what you choose to believe. It is a done deal as far as I am concern. What I am here because this is a forum and there is someone who wants to follow the truth all the way. ELOHIM as I have stated is a title or surname of all THREE BEINGS and their NAMES are YAHWEH ELOHIM, YAHSHUA ELOHIM, and HOLY SPIRIT ELOHIM. Last names are titles or surname that even you have and can be traced back to an ancestor that is all. God is a title/surname and goes back to its original owner which is Zeus and that was deriving from the word devil. Now so all will know that the ancient heathen knew that there were more than just ONE ELOHIM and they stated it clear to Nebuchadnezzar. This Scripture goes unnoticed because of Nebuchadnezzar could not remember his dream that was very important. He felt that his priests claimed to read the mind and know all things could tell him what he dreamed. He now realizes that they are a bunch of fakes and wanted them dead. They are pleading for him to just tell them what he dreamed and then they could interpret it but he can't remember and they finally states this very clearly. I first will present the exact conversation between Nebuchadnezzar and the Chaldeans then I will present the English text with the English word than replace it with the correct Aramaic word. Keep in mind that this language is related to Hebrew because Abraham came from Chaldee. This is two different dialect like British English and American English:

The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill. But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof. They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it. The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh. Dan 2:10, 11

Two things you should notice here that the lord is used for man so why use this same word for the MOST HIGH? Secondly here is the word gods plural as it should be to mean more than just ONE SUPREME BEING. The Heathen knew YAHWEH, HIS SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT and the proof is nothing but remarkable because they said they did not dwell with flesh. I know this does not mean anything to you but they knew that flesh meant those created from the dust of the earth. The Chaldeans knew that the true ELOHIM did not dwell with all men of the earth. They separated THEM from their debase image worship that represented Satan. The Scriptures below prove without a doubt that the Chaldeans were familiar with the ALMIGHTY ONES:

We should all say wow to know that these men as all men are aware of the ALMIGHTY ONES known as ELOHIM. Here is another proof by king Nebuchadnezzar himself who recognize YAHWEH'S SON!

They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. Now here is truth and fact that even in that time all knew the ALMIGHTY ONES by THEIR correct NAMES!
Again I will try to present to you not tell you but present to you historical fact. Remember earlier I told you that the Chaldean are cousin to Daniel?

And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. Gen 11:31

Now their language was similar and again to prove to you that ELOHIM represent all THREE ALMIGHTY ONES here is another plural word used ELAHH. Now when Scholars try to fit words to their false belief as EGW indicated in Early Writings p. 221, 222 they forget to cover all the truth. Strong Dictionary again as EGW stated change words so they tried to explain certain words away as you have but the truth will be found. Let me show you by Strong himself:

Now I am trying to explain to you that "el" a singular word use in ancient time for false names or idols. But this singular form was not use for any of the ALMIGHTY ONES. Again I present Strong on writings to prove how men contradict themselves:

(The second form is rare); probably prolonged (emphatically) from H410; a deity or the deity: - God, god. See H430.

Now to prove that the word is actually not rare here come the Chaldeans the false priests who worship falsely right? Now I provided you exactly what the Chaldeans said in the KJV but I will just change gods correctly:

And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the ELAHH, whose dwelling is not with flesh. Dan 2:11

See look both the Chaldean priests and Nebuchadnezzar used the plural form instead of Eloahh the singular word! Again when men cannot explain the truth they improvise as they do here but read and notice how they come to their conclusion as I am sad to say you do as well. The reason is they cannot explain certain Scriptures:

They sacrificed unto devils, not to ELAHH; to elohim whom they knew not, to new gods (this word is in italic and is not in the original text but was put there. This term for God (so you will know ELAHH), was usually clearly used for Israel's God, the true God. This is evident from the fact that the Levites in the postexilic period used the term in quoting the descriptive revelation of God given in Exo 34:6-7, where the original revelation to Moses had used El and Yahweh (Neh 9:17). You know mmksparbud to me it is simple. If Satan changed the Sabbath which is Holy then he will change YAHWEH ELOHIM'S name. Why so we could become worshipers of his name instead of the correct ONES. God the Father: God the eternal Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation. (Now this does not make sense if all THREE Created?) He is just and holy, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. The qualities and powers exhibited in the Son and the Holy Spirit are also revelations of the Father.

God the Son: God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Through Him all things were created, (Now this imply jus HE is the ONE who created) the character of God is revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged. Forever truly God, He became also truly man, Jesus the Christ.

God the Holy Spirit: God the eternal Spirit was active with the Father and the Son in Creation, (Now this makes sense that all THREE Created) incarnation, and redemption. He inspired the writers of Scripture. He filled Christ's life with power. He draws and convicts human beings; and those who respond He renews and transforms into the image of God.

There is no W in old Hebrew--
Never heard your name for God in Chinese, any African dialect,not in Russian--certainly never heard it in spanish, Japanese or any other language, including that of the American Indian, not even among the Eskimos, specifically, Manilaq, the Eskimo who was given insight into the Sabbath 100 years before any white man showed up, have you read about him? just look his name up. God gave Him many messages to give to his people that when the white man came, they were ready for them--Manilaq called God--Grandfather. If God wanted to be called a certain name, He could have very easily informed him of that. God cannot be limited.

So, those who do not agree with you about the name/s to call God are 'removed from the gospel?" This is a perfect example of gross mis-use of scripture. You have no way of knowing that from just a few internet postings over the miles that separate us.

Out of the hundreds of names I quoted from the Bible so far in this topic; there is not a single one that is "incorrect." Each one shows a different aspect of God, which in turn corresponds to some felt need that all people have from time to time. Insisting that we only call Him Elohim, is no different than when Jehovah's Witnesses insist that we only call Him Jehovah.

It is absolutely wrong and un-biblical to say that the Bible is wrong, and then place your own interpretation on what the "real truth" is. I quoted verbatim what the Bible says, something I note that you are not doing here.

Take for example, the Bible's practice of calling God "Father." or "The Father."

A Father God. Addressing Israel, Moses referred to God as their Father, who had redeemed them: "'Is He not your Father, who bought you?'" (Deu_32:6). Through redemption, God adopted Israel as His child. Isaiah wrote, "O Lord, you are our Father" (Isa_64:8; cf. Isa_63:16). Through Malachi, God affirmed, "'I am the Father'" (Mal_1:6). Elsewhere, Malachi relates God's fatherhood to His role as Creator: "Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us?" (Mal_2:10). God is our Father through both Creation and redemption. To rotely replace "father" with "elohim" in the above quote would be very wrong, and would take away the Bible's meaning, context, and intent. It would deny us the privilege of knowing about that aspect of God which makes Him our heavenly Father. He is a personal God, and all the names I am posting allow us to have a personal relationship with Him, because through these, we can know Him; and it is eternal life to know Him. (John17:3).

I doubt that the number 6000 is accurate; but yes, it is one of the many names for God.
