NAACP lifts travel advisory against American Airlines

The NAACP is lifting its travel advisory against American Airlines, saying the company is making improvements that address worries about African-Americans being subject to discrimination or even unsafe conditions while flying.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson made the announcement at the NAACP’s national convention in San Antonio, Texas. The NAACP issued the advisory in October, after several incidents including an NAACP official and another civil rights activist being kicked off American flights.

Queasyjet isn't far behind either, but I don't think they've yet had paying customers stretchered off with broken bones, missing teeth and concussions for not wanting to be "bumped".
I also think they stop selling tickets when the aircraft is full (unlike United who apparently regularly sell more seats than they have on the plane).

I'm probably missing something obvious here, but how would African-Americans be specifically endangered by unsafe practices? Most of the results of unsafe practices that I've heard of have killed all the passengers without regard to race.
