Hey peoples, i'm new here.

I'm not a Christian *shock horror* i'm just really interested in religion, Christianity especially and i wanna learn more about it...basically learn the basics.

I've also got a few questions i wouldn't mind being answered but there is no Help Thread sooo where do i go to ask questions about Christianity?

The book you should defnitely go pick up is "A Case For Christ" by Lee Strobel. It's by an atheist journalist who investigated Christianity. The end result was him becoming a Christian and writing a book to answer all the big questions about the faith! It's very understandable, too. The other book, the most important book for investigating Christianity is the Bible itself! You will probably be amazed at how many of your questions can be answered in there! This is also a great place to ask. Try posting some of your questions in this forum. These are the only three things i can think of right now because I've got to run, but i really hope this is helpful!

It sounds a little pursuasive though. He was an atheist so the book must have a powerful hidden message that made this person 'see the light'.
I'd rather have answers that were neutral. Unbiased. Written from a persons point of view with no intention to pursuade or convert.
I want the answers layed out for me so i can make up my own mind as to which side of religion i take...

Do i make any sense?

hi Coma, glad to see you here questioning truth and searching for answers, good for you. i've never read the Strobel book, but i am reading a book by CS Lewis (he wrote the tales of narnia ?)
and his book "mere christianity" is a view of Christ, his church and his followers without being "Written from a persons point of view with no intention to pursuade or convert"... the book is actually a published account based on a series of speeches he was requested to make over British radio to the troops behind enenmy lines during 2nd world war... very very cool read...

supermagdalena, Excellent suggestions.
May i suggest you start in the Bible from beginning to the end? Thsi way you can gain a better understanding and impact of Christs death to cover our sins. God is very serious.
Secondly, a book that was highly enlightening is a book called

The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoffer. He is a martyr for Christ in Nazi Germany. An excellent writer and great understanding of Christ.
here is just a little of what he had to say:

"Cheap grace is the grace we bestow on ourselves.. the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentence, baptism without church discipline, communion without confession. Cheap grace without discipleship."

"Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must knock."

"It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life."

It's not persuasive at all...most of the stuff was written before he was a Christian! It's basically a collection of interviews and facts, no persuasive stuff...all of it can be backed up. I was interested so i checked.

I have actually read the bible and i'm trying to get hold of a copy of Lucifer's bible too.
Cuz the way i see it...if you're gonna change your life style completely to serve one true God, you need to understand both the good side (Christianity) and the bad side (Satanism).

Plus it helps to know what you're up against.

I wouldn't recommend the Satanic Bible. That is not what Satan is about. That is a book that is full of lies and totally against Christianity.

Read The Bible. You'll get a good explanation of both. You will get the truth about the enemy. You will get the truth about God.

Lucifer was created by God, so if Lucifers bible holds any truth at all, then you have no choice but to believe in God!

After all if there was no God there would be no Lucifer.

I will pray that you are touched by Christ, so you will come to realize that your salvation is at stake.

This might be chasing a rabbit ... but I always thought that satanism was kinda funny. I mean, arn't they admiting that there is an all-powerful God? But instead of choosing the side that will win in the end, they choose the side that will be tormented for all of eternity. But I'll be prayin' for you man!

Exactly! I mean if you worship or follow Satan, then you have to believe in God. Of course I don't know what kind of blasphemy the Satanic bible holds, but even Satan worshippers must know that God exists, after all God did name him.
