you know, when I was little, I used to assume that if a parent loves his/her children, it has be the kind that is absolutely unconditional.
in another word, either a parent love their kids with love that is unconditional or they don't love their kids. Either it is black or it is white.
as one get older, I think all of us realize that many things in life are rarely so clear cut, and they are usually much more complicated than that.
such as how parent behave in good times always indicate how they are always going to react in bad. But that is not always true. I have seen mothers who are perfect mums in good times, who seemed so patient and loving and devoted to their children lives 100%. But when faced with painful betrayal from one of their children, were unable to forgive their daughters and ended up saying things like " I no longer feel anything for her ( the daughter)"
And I have seen mothers who does love their kids somewhat, but wont necessarily won the best mother of the year award, maybe because they may be considered to be self absorbed by some as they tend to focus on things like social status rather than making their children their priority. But when faced with similar painful betrayal from their children, they never cease to make an effort to reconcile with their children, even if their children keep rebuff their efforts.
In fact, recently I came across this story of this mother who tried to pin the blame on her own son in a murder trial in order to save herself, even though by all accounts she was a loving mother during the good time, this story kind give parents something to think about when it comes to our own children, that is do we really love them as much as we think we do? and how can we be sure?
