• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just joined yesterday and decided, before jumping in right away, to make my 1st post an introductory one

I generally refer to myself as an atheist and, indeed, registered as one, but may, in actuality, qualify more so as an agnostic - if we're going to get technical, that is...

At any rate, I have little to no interest in debating the existence of God

What I am hoping for is to engage in lively and respectful discussion upon the morality of God as He is described throughout scripture

I look forward to getting to know some of you!

What I am hoping for is to engage in lively and respectful discussion upon the morality of God as He is described throughout scripture

Whenever you start your thread on that topic - I assume you would agree that creating a sinless, perfect paradise Earth where humans had eternal life and animals were vegetarian -- is indicative of an extremely "moral" being -

And defining laws that protect that optimal state as long as free-will beings chose to follow them is also moral. Just like it is moral to tell people not to open the emergency exit on an airplane when the plane is not experiencing any emergency.

I also suspect that you will agree that it is moral for a surgeon to remove cancer to save the patient.

Firstly, a big welcome...

Secondly, why would you be so motivated to discuss what you don't believe?

Thanks, Jaedan!

Beatles fan?
Me too!

Do you recognize my avatar?

I've pretty much been a Beatles fan since the day I was born :)

Isn't your avatar the tree from the Strawberry Fields Forever music video?

Thanks for the big welcome, Carl!

As to your question - although I do not believe in God, I most certainly DO believe in morality

Does not God influence, define, shape, form, and impart morality to those who believe in Him?

Wow, I'm impressed!
Very observant...

I've used the same avatar on different forums and you are the 1st Beatles fan to recognize it!

My all time favorite song:

"No one I think is in my tree
I mean it must be high or low
That is you can't, you know, tune in
But it's alright
That is, I think it's not too bad"

Agreed
Creating a paradise for man to live in is a moral thing to do

Agreed
Nothing at all immoral in the application of laws designed to preserve said paradise

Agreed
It is perfectly moral for a surgeon to cut open a patient so as to remove a cancer

Yes... if they are willing...

Well, there you go...

If I am to discuss morality with any of the 2 billion+ Christians who share this earth with me - then I am going to have to discuss God as well, right?
