Thats a bit harsh to say to God IMHO. Just think of all the complications
Well with the way it appears, it sounds like she already thought it through seriously. I agree with her in that it's alright to change something about yourself if it means that your confidence level will increase. And confidence is a huge factor for happiness.

So I say go for it, Mina, if ever you can afford it. God wouldn't be upset. If anything, he would be happy because you would be happier. And I feel that's what he wants for all of us.

ya change if were doing something ungodly....
Not all things are Godly/unGodly. There are areas where it does not come into play. For example is it Godly or unGodly to wear a particular pair of socks.

Read what Paul had to say "...all things are permissible" And unless it causes another to stumble it is ok. Now I know not all things that are allowed are good, but unless an individual feels God leading strongly one way or another, they should do what is truly on their hearts. Because I feel that is another way God leads us.

Further I believe there are lots of ways we can change to better become who God made us to be. I am doing lots of work right now on my thought processes so that I can change my behaviors. If I thought I needed surgery, I would do it in a heart beat.

I don't think there is anything wrong with plastic surgery, especially if its to correct a deformity of some sort (ex. birthmarks, etc.). As long as it doesn't become an obsession or a necessity (in order to feel good about yourself) I think it ok.

Granted, I'm probably biased because I am in the process of having foto-lasering done to correct a scar left from a serious burn a few years ago. :D Not sure if that qualifies as surgery though (although the cost isn't cheap).

I've watched a few of those shows where they give people surgery to improve their appearances. What I learned from it was that dental surgery as well as laser surgery to clean up a person's complexion work very well at making a person look more attractive.

What I really didn't like about the show was why they didn't stop there. They would then give plastic surgery, which in my opinion, ruined all the work they had done. It usually made the people look plasticy and not real anymore. The surgery usually took away all the charm and character the people had before, leaving behind an impersonal and phony look.

So does that make the scar go away? If I had money, I would try to get rid of two somewhat large scars that I have.

It will if the scars are due to pigmentation only as opposed to being a "physical" scar (I hope I'm being clear :sorry: ). The burn left a scar that is significantly darker than my normal skin color so the laser is to correct that pigmentation difference.

IMHO plastic surgery is saying that God mesed up and didn't know what he was doing when he created you...
well not everyone that gets plastic surgery is saying that to God- as was pointed out. The same idea could be applied to weight loss, hair coloration, mole removal, the wearing of make-up and a myriad of other improvements to appearance. I really don't think that God cares really if someone gets plastic surgery or not. Like anything else, I think He is more concered with the motives behind it more than the actual changing of appearance itself.

Actually I have to agree with this, unless its something lifethreatening that needs removed, who knows what that could be, I don't believe it is part of God's plan for anyone to improve their looks because they feel the need to. God makes us the way we are for His own reasons, who are we to tell Him that He messed up? I feel the same about make up, and you cant say weight loss cause as was pointed out already we can lose weight because we put it on, we are responsible for weight issues thats not God's doing.

Not saying it would be a sin or anything, just that IMO it's not a good thing, but it's your choice of course. I aint trying to judge ya, just giving my personal thoughts on the topic. As far as i know we are all entitled to our own views right? :)

Joyce Meyer, a GREAT woman of God, has had plastic surgery.

Not that it means it's okay.

I'm of the opinion that it is good to get plastic surgery if it helps you feel better about yourself. A lot of what we do could be misconstrued as saying that God messed up and didn't know what He was doing, but it doesn't necessarily stop us from doing it. I would get plastic surgery if it didn't look so painful!

Love.

I guess I shouldn't have my third nipple surgically removed, because that would mean I'm criticizing God!

Give me a break. People should really learn to mind their own business.
Hmmm if you didn't notice I clearly stated I was giving my own personal opinion, if I shouldn't be doing that then nobody should of brought up the topic in the first place but this is a message board so everyone that posts something is open game for others to comment on it. If you don't want to hear others thoughts then its real easy just don't post your own views and nobody will have reason to reply.

So yeah, sorry man but once made public its open for discussion and nobody is getting into anyone else's business...

We're all sharing our own personal opinions here. I love that about the internet. Feel free to share whever is on your mind.

My post is directed at what I've seen as a general hostility toward people who would resort to surgery in order improve one thing or another about their appearance. They're safe targets that every "good" Christian can feel morally superior over. Warms the heart, doesn't it? The problem is, people who feel so bad about something that they would resort to plastic surgery are obviously suffering. I think telling them that they're criticizing the God they love is like kicking a man while he's down (or like kicking a woman while she's down). Sorry, but that's my opinion.

I swore to myself that I'd never log in again and that the last post that I did in here was my last post on any message board. But I came by tonight to tie up some lose ends. And I hope that by tying this one up I can leave here with a clear conciousense. I didn't start this thread for others to start kicking anyone else around. I am fair game because I opened this thread. Kick me all you want but please don't kick anyone else around for what they believe. I think that the best thing that could happen here is that we all go to our corners. There have been some people here who have the same question I did and we have had it answered. Getting into a flame war and hurting other people was not my intention now or at any other time. It's time to give it up and forget that this thread was ever posted. I don't want anyone else hurt here. Thank you.
