My Time in Heaven, by Richard Sigmund, compared to Kat Kerr’s books.
I recently re-read ‘My Time in Heaven’, and near the end I thought ‘I don’t know if I believe this’. There were a number of things that bothered me about it. The author claims to have died in a car crash and gone to heaven, and come back. He is guided around heaven by two grumpy, uppity angels, who never answer any questions, and say things like ‘it’s not for you to know’ etc. It’s a bit like the scene of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, where Larry David ends up exchanging insults with his angels in heaven. These angels are all loving and fawning when Jesus comes along, I just found it sickening.
Another thing I found sickening was there supposedly being a big basin of Jesus’ blood somewhere in heaven… gross, as they say. Then there were all these statues of Jesus, living statues doing stuff, and in the Bible the Israelites are commanded never to make any graven images of anything, in heaven the whole place is full of statues. The author allegedly spend eight hours in heaven, and he naturally gets to meet Jesus, and Jesus meets him in a gazebo, and has ‘open wounds’ in his face.
Jesus takes the author to hell, for some reason, and carries him in his arms. The author buries his face in Jesus; robe, like a big baby, as he doesn’t want to look around. Then there are monuments, and one is like the Washington Monument; what would a masonic phallic symbol be doing in heaven? Angels do a lot of stuff, like carrying people’s prayers around in censors; doesn’t seem very likely to me. Also they are all male, whereas Jesus in the gospels suggests that there is possibly no gender in heaven.
Then there are all these soldier angels standing in lines, waiting to get orders to go to earth, and they’ve been there for ages, like the Terracotta Army; how boring would that be? The main thing I found wrong with this story, is that God is anthropomorphic; an enormous man, sitting in an enormous throne. Wouldn’t this enormous man get bored to tears, sitting in his throne, lapping up the worship of all the millions of worshippers, prostrate on the floor? And how did the author get to the railings, where there are stones shaped like potatoes, in front of the throne? The author said that he saw God’s feet only, and they were the size of Texas; how silly. Isn’t God a Spirit? A bit more sophisticated perhaps, than an enormous man, sitting around for all eternity, doing nothing. And what was God doing before he created this heaven and all these angels, to worship him and do stuff? Where was he sitting, before he created his own throne? Doesn’t make any sense.
The author quotes stuff from Revelation, but nothing that he reports of heaven corresponds to what is described in heaven; there are no twenty-four elders, for example. There are allegedly nine steps to fullness I Christ, a bit like the twelve steps to recovery. There was a room where the author is taken, and in the room is written; ‘The Covenant of Jehovah, and the Redeemed of the Lamb’, the author is shaking and cannot speak; he sees his name written; ‘Richard of the family of Sigmund’. Most scholars tell us that Jehovah isn’t the way it originally was pronounced, and is an anglicised corruption of Yahweh.
The author is always weeping about stuff, and ‘falling on his face’, whatever that means. There’s no verification of anything that the author claims; no medical records or witnesses named, so he could have just made the whole thing up, for whatever reason. He says that there were soldiers in Iraq, who were reading his book, as they didn’t have any bibles, and they were in battle, and the Iraqis ran off, and later claimed that they saw big angles in the sky. That sounds like made-up rubbish to me.
When the author is taken to hell, at the end of it Jesus says how much he loves him and everybody; a bit perverse really, and pointless. There is so much wrong with this book, that I almost don’t know where to start. Jesus shows the author his hand, and it has the name of the author engraved on it. This book isn’t as bad as Kat Kerr’s book on her visits to heaven. Kat Kerr starts teaching heretical ideas in her book. She has these cable cars (without cables) coming to pick up people, after they have died, to take them through the universe, to heaven. The universe is thought to be 13.7 billion light years across.
Kat Kerr has there cable cars travelling through outer space, in supposedly a short time, whereas it would take billions of years travelling at the speed of light, even if heaven was in this same dimension, and it isn’t. Kat Kerr allegedly got to see Oral Roberts being taken to heaven. I don’t really care who Oral Roberts was, but I looked it up. He was part of the charismatic movement, or closely associated with that type of religion. I was thinking that maybe Kat Kerr used this book by Sigmund, as a model to base her own claims about heaven. The two accounts are different, but there are a few things that are similar. Sigmund says nothing about cable cars.
There is no information given about anything. There is the usual stuff about revivals on the earth, before Jesus returns. But there’s no revelation given about anything. The author sees some huge trees, and wonders at how old the earth is, and want’s to ask the uppity angels, but is too timid to ask. Kat Kerr has a room where creation is shown on a TV screen. According to her, there dinosaurs were created before in another age, and the earth is very old. As dinosaur DNA has been found in dinosaur bones recently, so that proves that she is wrong, and must be lying. Why do people lie about these things?
Sigmund provides some wonderful revelation, spoken by Jesus, and it is a stupid meaningless riddle, similar to the riddle in Revelation, like the 'one who was, is not, and yet will be', but it is different and just as inexplicble to everyone, perhaps the author thought he was being profound.

Hi. I also read this book a couple of years ago and immediately suspected that it was a fabrication made up only to sell books.
I posted a review on my website at spiritualfictionbooks dot com and there is no evidence that Mr. Sigmund was even in an accident as he claimed.
You can also check out the book reviews and comments on amazon.com - his own family members do not support his claims.
Unfortunately Mr. Sigmund has since passed away, and anyone who supports his claims will not respond to any inquiries about his book. The last report I had from a friend who had questioned the book's publisher was that "they were investigating". As long as people continue to buy this book, and unfortunately I was one of them, their "investigation" will probably never take place.
Thanks for your comments, and hopefully this will prevent one or two others from wasting their money on this book.

Sincerely,

Rick Fess

interesting to hear that. it seems to be a childish fantasy.
there are other similar books which i think are fabrications; Mary Baxter, and Kat Kerr's books.
I don't know how these people can lie so much, and yet claim to be Christians.

Something to think about...

In his book, Sigmund said that the Lord told him that he would not die before the rapture of the Church.

This begs the question... what lord told Sigmund that? Jesus Christ cannot lie, so it must have been a lying spirit.

Since it was a lying spirit, then the whole "My Time in Heaven" experience proves to be fabricated. The "Heaven' he visited could not have been the "Heaven" that the saved will go to, for the Jesus in that Heaven is not a liar.

Richard Sigmund proved himself to be a phony when he died in 2010.

Well done.

Intentional lie, Demonic delusion or delusion in a purely human sense, it makes no difference. Your argument pretty much proves the experience is not from God (assuming God exists). .

Paul wanted to go past the foundational teachings of God like repentance and faith, baptism(s), etc., but there is a matter of the church being ready.

Some things even the apostles could not receive because they were not ready. It's line upon line. Sadly, we're not supposed to judge by mental standards, but by what we receive in our hearts.

People read and judge through the strongholds they carry, and they wade through the ignorance they have of the kingdom. It is good to discuss and to present questionable points (for the purpose of understanding). It is wrong to base your judgments on that ignorance.

I can't tell you how many times I had the Holy Spirit pour out while I read Richard's book. I'd be in public somewhere fighting back the tears at the revelation of God's love for His people (me!). The next minute, I'd be laughing. (I'm not an overly emotional person.) But the anointing from this book is amazing. It will take your walk closer to God if you're ready for it.

It's better to reserve judgment than to criticize...

Just to comment on a little bit of this post:
...He is guided around heaven by two grumpy, uppity angels, who never answer any questions
The angels escorting Richard answered some questions. Many of Richard's questions were outside of God's plan and purpose for that moment. How many of you had a child ask questions where you finally said "because", or "someday you'll understand"? They were not rude, but kept Richard on track. Richard "knew" the answer to some questions as knowledge is often imparted. Some of the things he did not understand were outside the intended focus for him by God. They were not grumpy!
...It’s a bit like the scene of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, where Larry David ends up exchanging insults with his angels in heaven.
Nothing like that at all (I haven't seen what you're referring to.) I know it's not insulting or sickening in the least.
Another thing I found sickening was there supposedly being a big basin of Jesus’ blood somewhere in heaven… gross, as they say.
The most precious commodity in existence, the Blood of Jesus. Angels collect your tears, record all your words and thoughts (consider this), etc. Nothing unusual for them to have collected the Blood.

Then there were all these statues of Jesus, living statues doing stuff, and in the Bible the Israelites are commanded never to make any graven images of anything, in heaven the whole place is full of statues.

There apparently are moving statues in Heaven. In the Old Covenant, God's people were commanded not to have statues because they would worship them. We're redeemed from the carnal ordinances of the Law (not the law of love), and in Heaven no one is in danger of worshipping statues. God's abilities are far beyond ours and consider that it has never entered into your natural mind, the things God has prepared for those who love Him.

The author allegedly spend eight hours in heaven, and he naturally gets to meet Jesus, and Jesus meets him in a gazebo, and has ‘open wounds’ in his face.
It is said that Jesus is the only One in Heaven bearing scars or wounds. They remind us of the price He paid. Jesus had a hole in His side and He showed Thomas the same after He was resurrected.
Jesus takes the author to hell, for some reason, and carries him in his arms. The author buries his face in Jesus; robe, like a big baby, as he doesn’t want to look around.
Heartbreaking to see people crying out to Jesus, suffering horribly because they denied His Spirit.
Then there are monuments, and one is like the Washington Monument; what would a masonic phallic symbol be doing in heaven?

You really should think twice about what you write, as it is being recorded in Heaven. No 'phallus" symbols there, I can assure you! Not every shape like that is related to in this way.

Angels do a lot of stuff, like carrying people’s prayers around in censors; doesn’t seem very likely to me.

Read about in Revelation where the prayers of the saints are incense before God.
Also they are all male, whereas Jesus in the gospels suggests that there is possibly no gender in heaven.
There is no male or female in the Spirit, but we'll recognize one another as "man" or "woman". Michael appears male. They have female looking angels as well.
Then there are all these soldier angels standing in lines, waiting to get orders to go to earth, and they’ve been there for ages, like the Terracotta Army; how boring would that be?
I don't think anything is boring in Heaven! God fulfills each one of us in the acting out of our destiny and purpose.
The main thing I found wrong with this story, is that God is anthropomorphic; an enormous man, sitting in an enormous throne. Wouldn’t this enormous man get bored to tears, sitting in his throne, lapping up the worship of all the millions of worshippers, prostrate on the floor?
I have heard that God can change size, depending on what's going on. I have asked God if He ever got bored, since He knows the beginning from the end. I never heard an answer, but I'm guessing He does not!
...A bit more sophisticated perhaps, than an enormous man, sitting around for all eternity, doing nothing.
Think again. We often seem foolish by our lack of understanding (all of us).
Most scholars tell us that Jehovah isn’t the way it originally was pronounced, and is an anglicised corruption of Yahweh.
They don't have a "J" in Hebrew. However, in English that is how we relate to one of the names of God. I would guess that it wasn't even in English, but that rather he understood it and his mind relates to English. Think about what John saw on Jesus' thigh. Was it English? I doubt it! We understand the meaning though and this is what is important.
The author is always weeping about stuff, and ‘falling on his face’, whatever that means.

You'll find out if you make it. Richard just got there and was often struck by the beauty of God, His ways, and His kingdom. Laying prostrate is one form of worship and we'll all do this as well as bend our knee.
There’s no verification of anything that the author claims; no medical records or witnesses named, so he could have just made the whole thing up, for whatever reason.

His family certainly was a witness. I'm sure there are medical records. We don't have any proof that anyone hear has been born again, yet we take by faith based on Who we align ourselves with that we all are. There is the witness of the Holy Spirit as well.

I have born more fruit from Richard's book and Kat Kerr's teachings than many testimonies I have heard. I have shared what I have read with other believers and experienced God's power pour out. I have no doubt whatsoever about either of these servants of God.
...and the Iraqis ran off, and later claimed that they saw big angles in the sky. That sounds like made-up rubbish to me.
It's time to grow in the ways of the Spirit. There are testimonies just like this from Israeli soldiers in the Six Day War. God's angels do protect and no doubt many enemies of God have seen them as they enter into the fray.
She has these cable cars (without cables) coming to pick up people, after they have died, to take them through the universe, to heaven. The universe is thought to be 13.7 billion light years across.
Kat Kerr has there cable cars travelling through outer space, in supposedly a
Kat relates to them as being "like" cable cars (for want of a better term). You're thinking with your mind again. The natural mind cannot receive the things of God. The whole point of the transports is that God allows you to see the planets and nebulas. No doubt your travel is greatly accelerated and stops at the right places. He could take you there right away (some probably do). God wants His people to see His universe and to see the brightest thing ever seen, Heaven!
I don’t really care who Oral Roberts was, but I looked it up. He was part of the charismatic movement, or closely associated with that type of religion.

You're referring to those who receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Jesus breathed on His people after His resurrection, but He also had them wait in Jerusalem to receive power. It is this power that transformed them from hiding to going out and working miraculous things. Don't leave here without it!
There is the usual stuff about revivals on the earth, before Jesus returns. But there’s no revelation given about anything.
Go back and read the book again! There is revelation all over the place!
...According to her, there dinosaurs were created before in another age, and the earth is very old. As dinosaur DNA has been found in dinosaur bones recently, so that proves that she is wrong, and must be lying. Why do people lie about these things?
DNA is (or was) present in all dinosaur bones. All that proves is that they were living creatures. We already knew that. Kat said that the earth is millions of years old. In the original earth they did not eat each other until Satan and his devils came down and corrupted everything. God judged the earth and froze it (we knew this too). He thawed it Genesis 1:2 and remade it, now with man.

Science knows that the earth is VERY old. If it and the moon and stars were done in 6 days, how could that be so? The earth was created first and was lit by the glory of God (not the sun). It was not created after 1:2, it was remade. This is the only way both things can be true. No one considered that it was lit by the glory of God. It's the only explanation given whereby science and the Word are both true (we knew somehow this would be the case). Our understanding could not provide an explanation, but now we have one!!
Are we in the Christian section?

I'm surprised to hear you say that. I was praying a lot in the Holy Ghost in the period that I first read it. God really poured it into me! I'd be somewhere waiting for my mechanic to repair my car in a nearby restaurant. I'd be full of joy. A minute later, I'd be fighting back the tears. The fruit of the Holy Spirit was VERY manifest.

I'd go to church early and talk to some of the elders about it before service. The power of God would come out of me as I talked about the book. I couldn't get enough of that. I started telling others, and God's presence would be very strong.

I'd buy extra books and give them away. If anyone knows anyone that had a family member or friend pass on, I'd recommend this book. I've bought more of his books, than any other book except the Bible. It's a HUGE blessing.

Remember, it's not about your natural mind getting a grasp on it. It's about your spirit being ministered to. It has not entered into the heart of man what God has prepared, so if it sounds incredible, don't sell it short for that.

That is not what Richard said-- he said that he was told that he would be here when Christ returns.. that is much different.
Read the Bible.

This book is unadulterated tripe, IMHO. It's been sent to my trash bin.

I find it terribly disturbing that all a person has to do is write a book about some kind of "experience" that seems oh-so-spiritual-and-mystical, and people will buy it - and believe it...
