  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is my testimony, and it is a little strange.

My parents weren't particulary religious when I was younger. They believed in God, but they didn't go to church and they didn't read the Bible. But my grandpa made up for everything my parents weren't. He never miss church and read to us from the Bible every night. I used to go over and stay with my grandparents all the time. I would go to church with him along with my brother every Sunday.

And then the summer I turned 9, I was raped by my Uncle Bill. I never told anyone, but it seemed like my life was falling apart. A few months later, I got saved at the church camp that my church held. And after I was saved, it seemed like God had suddenly just taken ahold of my hand and pulled me back onto the path. Everything fell into place and my life was happy. Until last September, when I was raped again. And I found out that I was pregnant. I know God never gives you more than you can handle, but being a mother at 14 was never part of my plan.

But even as I thought my life was falling apart, I saw things start to fall into place. This past Easter, my parents went to church for the first time in almost ten years. And I didn't go with them, mainly because I was afraid of messing up the church by going. My old church, even though I had went there for so long and had never done anything majorly bad, kicked me out when they found out I was pregnant. I didn't want that to happen again. So I stayed home, and waited for them to come home. And when they did, they told me about this amazing preacher who had shown them the way to God.

It turned out that I knew the preacher. He was the step-father of a boy who had just moved to our town. And the precher knew me, and knew about what had happened to me. And he drove out into the middle of nowhere, which is where we live, and personally invited me to come to his church. I had plans for the up coming Sunday, but I told him that next Sunday I would be there. And then he prayed with me.

Well, I went to church, exactly like I told him. And as soon as I walked in, I was bombarded by hugs and comforting words. And then, in the Youth class of Sunday school, there were even more comforting words. And when we went back into the chapel to have the sermon, I was called up front, and officially joined the church. And then the whole church came up and put their hands on either me or someone who had their hands on me, and gave me spiritual energy. And it was just the most amazing thing.

And then today, after I came home from church, I started looking for Christian websites. And I found this one. And I realized that I needed to renew my faith in Jesus. So I did. I saved myself once again. And my faith, even though it is brand new again, is already helping me cope with the struggles of things that I had never wanted. And I know with Jesus by my side, I can handle anything that life throws at me.
