  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a testimony about how I came to the Catholic Church and I thought I would share it with you all. Please forgive me if I make one huge paragraph.

It all started when I was a young child of the age of about 4 or 5. My parents took me and my sister to a Southern Baptist Church almost every Sunday. We went to Sunday School and I think we left during the service.

I remember at about the age of 12 or 13, I became born again. I had picked up some tracts at the front of the church and became born again. I also remember asking my Sunday School teacher what to do. She told me to read the Gospel of John. So I did that. I remember how I was filled with the Holy Spirit that night.

Through my teen years I backslided a number of times. At around the age of 16 or 17, I went to a Nazarene Church with my friend, Julie. We went to the youth groups and all. When the pastor stopped going, we stopped going. I went back there a few times in the future. I also went to a Fundamentalist Baptist Church a few times.

Then I got into college. I was back and involved with the Nazarene Church again and was quite devout this time. Then I got involved with a man I shouldn't have been involved with and got messed up in the Occult. Another boyfriend got me involved in Wicca that same year. I left both after about a year.

After I had left those two religions, I became a liberal Christian. Again, it was not satisfying and I prayed to God to help me find the true Church. Finally I started talking to a Catholic guy online and he convinced me of the Catholic Church's truth. I then became Catholic on Easter vigil of 2006. :)

I'm very glad your soul has found a home in the catholic church. I am also catholic and although I do not judge other religions (John 12:47 I came not to judge the world, but to save the world) I also am devoted to the catholic church. Bless you, and thank you.
