• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Alyssa,
Have you spoken to your family doctor about this, or been in therapy for eating disorders? I am in treatment with girls around your age, and they have been in the hospital with feeding tubes.

Get help. Ask your parents to take you to a therapist or doctor. It is a matter of life and death.

WOW!! I never knew you were that tall! You're taller than me!! *eeps* O.O

Since you really want to stop, but you seem to just not be able to...I really suggest that you get some professional help. You may want to start by just talking with your parents...so they can help you find the right therapist..and stuff. I don't know a lot about bulimia...as far as what it feels like to have it...but I am here for ya! I've been praying for you for quite some time..but I'll keep it going. Just please get some help.

I love ya!

It really is a psychological addiction -- just like smoking is a physiological addiction. Just like smokers have HUGE trouble stopping, it can be really REALLY hard to stop acting on your eating disorders!

Your life really is in danger though. I mean, you probably won't die right away, but you can have VERY serious complications caused by bulimia which might not show up until years later.

My school always had a counselor I could talk to when I had a really bad day with my depression and self-injury. Can you go to them and see if they can help you? You don't have to say you have an eating disorder right away -- until you trust them more. But they know all about self-esteem issues. They'd be able to start getting you help for the thoughts and feelings that really keep you in this negative cycle!

Hi! How was your Christmas? Did this make things more difficult? Have you got others you trust to talk to? This condition is serious. It is important to seek help. Are your parents aware of your struggle? What are their thoughts? Do you find them understanding? Have you ever talked to a counsellor or a family therapist about your struggle? Sometimes even bringing it out to the open can grant you with more power against your struggle.
One tip- your self talk is very important tool against your struggle. Keep beliveing and confessing that you can beat it. Journaling can be very useful if it is used positively. Make your goals achievable. Dont go to I wont ever throw up again, as this is a high expectation.
I watched my mum struggle with bulemia for many years. She now has many health problems. She struggled alone and only disclosed it later when she had recovered. However after many years of throwing up etc it has had a negative affect on her body.
Please seek help. It is a lonely battle to fight alone.
Praying for you :crossrc:
