My 7 year old son has already been diagnosed ADHD. After doing some research, I think it's possible he might have Asperger's, too, along with some sensory processing dysfunctions. I finally got the referrals to have him evaluated, but it's such a long process of going to many different doctors. I really don't understand how my son thinks and what to do to be able to help him. However, knowing some of his issues is helping me have a better understanding of his behavior and how to be more compassionate. I still don't know which of his behaviors are due to the ADHD/Asperger's/whatever else he has or if they are due to his being a young boy. I certainly don't want to punish him for something that is not in his control. Any insight on this would be appreciated.

Hi Jupiterinka, it's always difficult to unravel which behaviors relate to what, you're right. I find that the main charities/societies for ADHD and Asperger's are very useful in the UK, but not sure how it is for the US?
What sort of things does he do? As someone with Asperger's, I might be able to help think about whether some of the behaviours are related to this?

I know what you mean, jupiterinka. I am reading a lot trying to get more understanding. Also looking into biomedical interventions, changing my son's diet, etc. It is hard! But we have to try to help in any way we can.
