  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Comparatively speaking, would you want to take a ride in a shuttle that has as many missing parts as evolution has missing links?

So a shuttle that continues to work despite nutjobs trying to pick it apart for 150+ years. Sure, no problem.

Would you say that a photo album didn't depict a family if 1 year out of 20 had no pictures representing it because of a fire?

Photo album aside, do you have an answer?

Mine is an equivalent example to yours. I would never get on a space shuttle, because I am afraid of heights, so your example just cannot be conceptualized by me in a useable way, so, I made an equivalent.

She answered you. And you do realize that the so called "missing links" are just missing pictures. That does not mean that they are not there.

The missing links are not missing in evolution. They are only missing in our evidence and since the theory predicts that there would be missing pictures why do you think that it is a problem in the first place?

LOL -- you guys kill me.

Who are the real "nutjobs," Belk?

If you would really read this challenge and think about it, you would realize that, comparitively speaking, the shuttle would never get off the ground.

Yet some seem to be claiming they would jump into the payload of this thing like a bunch of college graduates into a telephone booth and wait for liftoff.

It probably wouldn't even hold them up.

-_- even a space shuttle has pieces that aren't necessary for it to work, that just help.

Let's get back to the shuttle.

That's more fun.

How about the fact that we can still tell it is a space shuttle even with many parts missing? That is more comparable to evolution, seeing as fossils aren't a part of the process, they are influenced by it.

People actually did ride on shuttles with missing parts. It's part of the reason it was retired.

Yes, I know.

Like on-board cameras that scientists used to like to pose upside-down in, until we got tired of Lost in Space getting pre-empted to show a commercial for Tang in Space.

Fine ... if it looks like a space shuttle, it must be a space shuttle, eh?

For about the third time: Would you get on it?

Depends on which parts are missing. But that is just me trying to be agreeable to your premise, because I wouldn't care if it was the most complete and safe shuttle ever, I would never get on one because I am afraid of heights.

That would be the guys who claim that their knowing things on faith should be more important then those who have evidence.

If you would really read this challenge and think about it, you would realize that, comparitively speaking, the shuttle would never get off the ground.

No, Given the massive amounts of evidence we have for evolution it would be one of the most complete ships ever built.

Yet some seem to be claiming they would jump into the payload of this thing like a bunch of college graduates into a telephone booth and wait for liftoff.

It probably wouldn't even hold them up.

Cool. Let's take a trip around the world. I'll use the transportation that science has devised and you can close your eyes and move around by faith. Ready? Go!
