  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My Shadow
By HuyHoa
Curious about God, a little boy asked his minister, “Father, what is God like?” The minister replied, “God is like your shadow” “My shadow?” the boy asked as he scratched his head, “I don’t get it.” The minister laughed and said “go home and think about.” The boy went home and observed his shadow for a whole week. The following Sunday, he came up to the minister and said “Father, I don’t think you should say that God is like my shadow.” The minister laughed and asked “Why is that?” And the boy replied, “Well, my shadow follows my everywhere and is always by my side, BUT it’s only there when there is light. When it’s dark, when I get scared the most, my shadow is not there. If you say God is like my shadow, then doesn’t that mean that God is only there for me in the light when it’s safe and is not with me in the dark when it’s scary?” Laughing and rubbing the little boy’s head, the minister replied, “In the light, God is there by your side, holding your hands. In the dark, when it is most scary and when evil is most powerful, God is inside of you protecting your soul, which is why you don’t see him.” The boy thought about and it made sense to him. From then on, he thought of God as his shadow and he was always happy in the light, and never scared in the dark.
