He's lying about his connections. If he had those high clearances and such, he could certainly do better than a job at a fastfood place and wouldn't need to mooch off of someone for free housing.

honestly, telling him upfront (with witnesses) that you want him out should be your first move. But you're really afraid he might turn violent, I'd call the police and tell them he's squatting in your home and refuses to leave and have them escort him out.

+1. In this case, documents exist, and if the police are called in the whole business goes on official record. From that point on, moocher-roomie is well advised to cut the threats since he becomes suspect numero uno if anything happens to the OP.

People with high clearances (a) don't talk about it and (b) don't put themselves into a compromising situation. Unless you're with the Secret Service. (What on Earth were those guys thinking????)

This thread is NOT about how carrying a gun can or can't prevent violence or anything like that. If you want to keep that discussion going - start a new thread. Stay on topic - which is about how to tell someone they need to leave and get a new place.

Good news, sort of: my roommate should be out the weekend after this upcoming weekend. Unfortunately it comes at the cost of his relationship with his son's mother, and the following firestorm will likely result in the dissolution of her family. Please keep G and those involved in this situation in their prayers. I wanted him to move, but not like this...

That's his fault, not yours. Do things his way, and things like that happen.

Thank you for updating your situation, Rob. It is hard not to let anger and indignation go too far when you hear of a disabled person being bullied and used - the solution may not be the most pleasant for all involved - but it is better than the alternative status quo. I will say a prayer for "G" - though I have no clue who he is beyond what you wrote.

Surprise, surprise. He flipped his script...again. I went ahead and told him that he and I need to sit down and settle on a "you're moving no matter what" date. He said that we'll "get around to it." I have a feeling we'll get around to it on Wednesday, whether he wants to or not.
