My poem about self harm- These Scars

Wrote this poem this morning, might write some guitar music for it later

So I've all got these scars
Which living with can be quite hard
Something I struggle with almost everyday
As I try to keep the painful memories away

No matter how hard I try
To cover up the past with a lie
A part of me inside dies
'Cause I know this is something I can't always deny
Not when so many others share these scars

I know I can't live my life like this
So I'm gonna have to take a risk
And I'll risk all my pain
For the courage and honesty I'll gain

People may ask, and I'll ask them to listen
Some may not understand, but I'll be the one to listen to them
I'll love all people and life to the fullest
Instead of using the blade to cope
I'll get high on hope

So I'll take this pen and I'll write it down
Hopefully with a message to turn lives around
Not for fame, fortune, or glory
But just to share my story

And when I do this, it will be a new day for me
The day when I can be the person I want to be
'Cause I'd rather be who I am with these scars
Than be who I'm not without them
