  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am unable to see what it is that possesses people to treat women differently to men, homosexuals different to heterosexuals, 'black' from 'white'. We're all human, every one of us! There shouldn't need to be topics that start 'Should females have the right..', and there shouldn't be topics discussing what rights any different group should or shouldn't have.

I do not like the way the church is exempt from the equal opportunities act in Britain. I do not like the way anti-homosexual laws have been put in place in America. I do not like the way there actually NEEDS to be anti-racist laws! What is up with this species? Why do people even think like this? It is beyond my comprehention.

Beautiful thought.

I don’t know why there are those who view themselves as better than others, I don’t know why there are those who chose to hate minorities, I don’t know why something as basic as equal rights could be denied to everybody.

I wish I understood.

Sadly I think that your post will be attacked by those who champion the very inequality you are questioning.

The answer you will get is that telling someone that what they are doing is a sin, is not hate, but love. Just that some of them think that calling ppl perverts falls under telling someone they're sinning.

It's divide and conquer. ;)
And I wonder about all the "hate" speach thrown toward Christians and their stance on issues of immorality.

I guess God felt these things were important - the role of women, and his view on sexual perversion are both things he put into his WORD. God didn't exault one colour race over another. He did uphold marriage between a man and a woman as being right. Sex is supposed to be reserved for marriage between 1 woman and 1 man. God speaks against sexual perversion etc.

He also speaks against beastiality - you dont seem to be worried about equal rights for ppl who engage in consentual sex with animals. Man-Boy Love state catagorically that they are the last minority group to be discriminated against. Discrimination is a P.C word. And is banded about to flout (sp?) Gods rules. What is topical, popular with current politics is of little interest to me. All that matters is what God wants us to do.

If it is good enough for God, it's good enough for me.

Beastie people inflict their acts on animals. Animals cannot consent. Man-Boy love people inflict their acts on children. Children cannot consent. Gay adults inflict their acts on gay adults. Gay adults can consent.

Unfortunately for you "God's word", and thankfully for all of us who arent your cookie cutter white heterosexuals, "God's Word" is as good as mine when it comes to lawmaking, it means nothing, and it cant be used as the basis of an argument in our system of courts, our country isnt secular by any stretch of the imagination but its alot better off than it could be if everyone running the gov't were db's like Bush

Because the "white cookie cutter heteros" are the people that are the biggots in this world, I wont deny that there are the stererotypical "angry black men"(see Real World:philly and New Orleans) nor is any race privied of being perfectly unbiased but it is the white man who has opressed and eradicated or allowed eradication to occur, whites are the ones who ruined the lives of african americans for 300 years. Those same cookie cutters are the ones who seem to be preaching about how to be moral how to love god and how to be a better person. If the cookie cutter white hetero Christians ran this country Id be persecuted for being gay and its ridiculous

Rights exist only so long as they do not harm someone else or oppress another's right. This is one reason why discussions exist about whether someone should have such and such right. I think it is a legitimate reason for discussing an issue if you think that someone's right will violate that of another, in which case it is good to find some middle ground.

But you are correct to the extent that we ought to treat each other better... far better than we have been known to do.

Speaking as an expert in Hate crime these laws exist to protect people against the very individuals who believe that someone has less of a right to live in peace because their skin is particular colour or they happen to have a different belief to others or are disabled in some way or live a different lifestyle to others. These laws will remain as long as these individuals practice hate crime.

Life is a privilege, not a right. To demand rights for everyone is to eliminate the line between legality and criminality, as there nothing we deserve but by earning it. The only reason we can live at all is because duties are followed, and even although we in consequence deserve rights, we have no right to demand them.
