True or false?

The Big Bang is an Old Testament event.

Yes, the Big Bang hypothesis fits with the 1rst verse of the Bible.

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth."

We've been able to figure out from a lot of evidence that during this verse something over 9 billion years passed -- that time between the moment of the Big Bang and the accretion of the early Earth.

That's not what the first verse of the Bible says.

Significantly.
Then you've got some 'splainen to do, Lucy. I've got the KJV (your favorite) right in front of me and Genesis 1:1 says "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

Then maybe you should go back and read Post 4 a little closer, eh?
What has post #4 got to do with it? In post #5 you deny that Gen 1:1 says " In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

No, I didn't.

Here, let me clear this up for you.

Genesis 1:1 [NIV] In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1 [KJV] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

See the difference?

You might say that's no big deal, but Paul says otherwise.

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Putting an -s- on the end of a word to make it plural can have dire consequences.

It's not until God is finished with creation, that you see "heaven" plural.

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

That's because between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 2:1 He creates two more heavens (firmaments).

It goes like this:

1. First Heaven = atmosphere = 0 - 62 miles up.
2. Second Heaven = outer space = 63 miles - edge of physical universe.
3. Third Heaven = beyond edge of physical universe = Heaven proper.

The Big Bang is an Old Testament event.

True. Jesus took some of the air, dust and water God created in the beginning and inflated it. Billy Graham used to say that he would have loved to have been there when Jesus scattered the Stars into the Universe. God made the FIRST Heaven on the 2nd Day, Gen 1:8 and Jesus (Lord God) made the other heavenS on the 3rd Day. Gen 2:4 The object of the creation is the 3rd Heaven of ll Cor. 12:2.

Our Universe was made at the end of 3rd Day since the FIRST Stars lit up less than one Billion years after the big bang, on the 4th Day. Gen 1:16 It's another proof that only God could have possibly written Genesis, since this Scientific Fact was discovered recently. www.astro.utu.fi/~cflynn/Stars/l1.html

*** 10-43 seconds defines the time when gravity splits from the other forces ... A simple picture runs like this: about 1 billion years after the big bang the first star ...

No, the Big Bang never happened. The central universe is the location of the eternal Isle of paradise. It's the geographical location of the eternal God, of infinity. The universe expands and contracts on 1 billion year cycles.

"Heaven Proper"

That's so fancy!

I've heard people claim that the first part of Genesis could loosely refer to the Big Bang, but the bible definitely doesn't refer to it in any direct sense.

The Big Bang is an Old Testament event.

In which one of Aesop's Fables did Moses lead the Israelites out of Egypt?

The question makes about as much sense as yours...

Ever heard of the following?
  1. Noah's Flood
  2. Tower of Babel
  3. Parting of the Red Sea
  4. Fall of Jerico
  5. David and Goliath
  6. Daniel in the Lion's Den
Those are known as "Old Testament events."

The reason is simple: they happened in Old Testament times.

You know? those dates that have "BC" after them?

Ever heard of the Big Bang?

It supposedly occurred in 13,700,000,000 BC.

Guess what that means?

It means it is an Old Testament event.

Make sense now?

The Old Testament was written about corrupt humanity, and it was written by corrupt men.

Corrupt men write software that gets us to the moon and back.

What's your point?
