I created this account/thread because I felt like I could straighten out my understanding of the world by seeing it from an alternative perspective. Hopefully someone could explain a little of how they view life as a whole, to help me out of my bewildered mindset.

I'd also like to add that I have anxiety. I'm unsure of the its extremity, but it has contributed to hours of deep, vexed thought. So if I say anything of the sort, please don't take me for a mental wreck.

I have anxiety issues as well.

To me, life is a mystery that we will not fully understand until we stand before God. A friend of mine explains it that we are weaving our own eternity, day by day, in a kind of tapestry. From our side it looks mostly dark, with a few bright bits, lots of tangled threads and loose ends. It is only when we get to see it from God's side that the full picture will emerge, and the bright bits will be seen set off to glorious effect among all the contrasting darker parts.

The Lord described this slightly differently, our behaviour here is a way of storing up treasure in heaven, of a kind that will not rust or spoil.

I am not sure if that helps; really we can't understand because we do not see the whole picture, but Christians, at least, can trust that one day we will, and it will all seem worthwhile.

Without this assurance, without this certainty that God will bring all things about for good, life would seem pretty well meaningless to me. It is my faith that provides the meaning that I need. I have to say, as well, that I really don't care if my faith has it all wrong. What matters is to find a reason to get up in the morning and do the best we can. That is what my faith gives me.

Just as I had hoped for, your response was very helpful and gave me just the answer I needed. Thank you Catherine.

You are welcome. Does this mean that you are happier now, or are you still confused about some things?
