This is kind of long, so feel free to read it at you leisure.
I guess the best place to start is at the begining.
My Mother was a Catholic, my father was a Baptist, I was raised as an Episcopalian.
The Church I grew up in was, less than spiritual. I had no friends with the other kids in the Church. The church was also, not very Christian. I had to figure out that Jesus died for my sins totally on my own (No I am not Joking.
). They said Jesus died, came back to life, and then went up to heaven. A nice little mythology from the way they taught it. It was a waste of my time.
Fast-forward to when I attended a Catholic High School. I was a devote Atheist. To put it mildly: All Religions could kiss my...
Yeah, that Catholic High School wasn't very helpful in bringing me back to Christ. My Senior Year Religion Teacher, I now realize, was totally right about there being a God, and I was totally wrong.
Fast-forward again to college. The Atheist phase of my life brought me to a REAL LOW Point. The people that I met who were atheist were not very good people. I'm the first to admit that Christians are not perfect, but wow, Christians did not need the sort of things that was said about them behind their backs by these people. Things like: "Bible Thumpin' All Day, Cousin' Humpin' All Night" They get progressively worse...
The path that brought my back to Christ was simple: I actually sat down and read the Bible. All on my own. I started with the Four Gospels, then the rest of the New Testament, and finally the Old Testament. I started with Jesus, and worked my way out.
Another thing, there is a lot of weird things out there. (I should know, my hometown is San Francisco, CA.) And a lot of it, I want no part of. And finally accepting Christ into my Heart has helped a lot.
I consider myself a Christian. There were no Catholics, Eastern Orthadoxes, Lutherans, Anglicans, Methodists, or even Scientologists when Jesus walked the Earth. So I don't see why I should try and label myself as one of them. Jesus didn't see differences, why should I? Jesus sat with rich and poor, sick and healthy, sinners and righteous. I prefer to let my faith in Jesus Christ shine through my actions.
Thank you for reading.
Have a good day.
