Mike has made a false idol of the shroud of Turin. Why? I have no clue. The fact that it is a fake does not harm the Jesus story at all. Insisting that a fake is true in my opinion does hurt the Jesus story.

I too believe it is a fake.

But not for scientific reasons.

If it's real, it violates one of the Ten Commandments.

And God wouldn't violate His own commandments.

(BTW the long side strip was actually used as a loose binding, it is attached full length to the side of the shroud) And the sudarium there in John 20:7
So hardly a biblical problem.

The science of the sudarium is fascinating. The way it was folded and wrapped, and how the wound marks etc match with the shroud.
It also has a chain of custody many hundreds of years older.
Tell me...faker theorizers...how did the shroud fakers get the sudarium in order to plan a fake?

Actually it is Historians of the time will tell you that multiple cloths were the norm, not one single cloth. And even the verse you sited referred to more than one piece of cloth besides the headpiece. You have both a historical and a biblical problem. Plus a huge scientific one.

No, it's neither. It's stating a fact: the ancient Hebrews were ignorant, desert dwelling, goat herding, bronze age nomads.

This statement itself is ignorance. They existed during the times of Egypt and Babylonia. They had contacts and networks in their ancient settings and certainly were well aware of the construction of pyramids as well as many scientific discoveries and inventions. They were certainly aware of many scientific discoveries in their local context. Hardly ignorant. You should search for historical achievements of the ancient world....you may be surprised to find out what you owe to the ancients that paved the way to where you are today.
