  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I found out, that my dad has Hebrew background, way back in our family (He said it's back during Christ, wow that's pretty far back in there!). And, I know this sounds stupid, but, it makes me feel like, because of my heritage, I should practice Judaism. My dad says (I'm adopted by the way, I live with my adopted dad. My biological dad is the one who has Hebrew), that no one in the family from what he knows has ever practiced Judaism. It makes me feel like, I wish, I didn't know, like I don't want to admit to what my heritage is. Cause, people believe you know, oh, well the Jews killed Christ. I've never thought that til now, and it makes me feel like i'm bad or something, like, I wish I didn't have this in my family background. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the Hebrews, i've always respected them, because they are God's chosen people. But I just wanted to you know, announce, this, so maybe you guys could give me some advice.
Thanks, and God Bless you!

(((Thereselilflower))) I want to tell you that you have been on my heart for some reason lately and I have been holding you before the Father. So I was interested to see this thread by you, which is why I stuck my nosey-nose in here.

Please, please remember that, first of all, the bulk of "the Jews" did NOT have a part in Yeshua's being handed over to the Romans who executed Him. A good many Jews believed in Yeshua, both before His death and after as well. The book of Acts records that the number of believing Jews was in the tens of thousands not too long after Yeshua's death, I believe. And contrary to what most people in this world believe, one certainly CAN and MAY practice Judaism and be a believer in Yeshua HaMoshiach and frankly, it is entirely Jewish to do so!

You should know that most will say you are not Jewish, because you rmum isn't Jewish, etc. However I do understand that when you find out there is Jewish blood in your background, it's as if the call to live as a Jew rises up from within. I think that's very true. I too found out some time ago that I most likely have Jewish bloodlines, on my mum's side, from her father's line. And I couldn't care less that I am not technically a Jew (nor do I claim to be BTW) but I know that for me, finding this out only made the pieces fit together for me, for I was already led into Messianic Judaism long before I found it out. To me, I felt like my heart's cry made a bit more sense to me once I found I had a heritage there. Though I am not a Jew, I am fully and freely able to embrace and live the faith of Yeshua -- Messianic Judaism. It's a looooooong process of learning, embracing what I feel the Spirit leads me to embrace and when, taking all things to the Word... and it's okay, I don't have to "get" it all right now, or practice it all immediately... and it would be impossible to do so. I take small bites and chew thoroughly, so I don't choke on the whole meat.

If you'd like to chat more, please feel free to PM me.

To be honest, I don't know of a single Jew who can trace their ancestory back this far. I'd question your dad's story a bit and do some research first... just seems a bit fishy that he made this claim.

You know, if I could do some reasearch, I would, but I really can't. Because i'm adopted, and my biological dad's mom knows nothing about his dad's heritage, let alone, her own heritage. So i'm kind of at a standstill, and take him at his word. All I know is his last name is Judd, if that's any kind of clue, ya'll know alot more about this, then I would.
God Bless!

Hix,

I'm afraid the claims made by that article are quite untrue. Hardly a Jew can trace their lineage back a couple hundred years today. While not all the geneological records were kept in the Temple, a good deal of them were (espeically those of Levi). However, this isn't the biggest reason the Jews, for the most part, are unable to trace lineage very far. You see, the Jews as a people were highly Nomadic. Geneology records were simply lost or unattended to in these scenarios. As well, the majority of Jewish populations around Europe were "booted out" by surrounding antisemetic communities throughout the ages. Synagogues were destroyed, Jewish books werer burned (thus a great loss of Talmudic history as well). In all of this, the Jewish geneology records suffered greatly. Most Jews are unable to trace their lineage back over 200+ years because of this... the ones who can trace farther, can go maybe 500'ish years... that that's quite rare.

Many anti-missionary Jewish groups are desperate to denounce the idea that any geneological records were destroyed along with the destruction of the temple. This is because through prophecy we know the heritage of the Messiah. And after the destruction of the temple, this becomes difficult if not downright impossible. Thus, you will see many anti-missionary groups denying the loss of Geneological records along with the Temple.

fyi...

ThereseLittleFlower,

There are numerous websites today that will help you search your geneological records, and even more specifically, Jewish websites that look for Jewish ancestory. Do a little Google Search and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Because the story your father told you is so vague, I would question its veracity. Possibly there is Jewish ancestory in your family's heritage, but most likely it is a fable (or family legend) that it is back in the 'day of christ'.

just my 2 cents.

oh, I dunno if you have hebrew ancestory or not. I'm just saying that if the rumor is true, its most likely after "the time of christ" and that part of it is just a myth. But you'd have to research your family heritage to find out either way if you have Jewish bloodlines somewhere. Most likely that part of the rumor is true though.
