  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You are teleported back into time and witness the Flood.

You are then sent back to the present, but told that you can bring back anything you want, but you have 30 days to use that object to convince enough scientists that the Flood was real.

What would you bring back that would have scientists saying, "Stop the presses! The Flood was indeed real!"

I would bring back the first few chapters of the Bible. The fact that they stop just before the flood is proof that they're genuine
That's not a bad answer --

(Assuming the language doesn't need its own Rosetta stone, that is.)

Great! I would take photos of the ark, the fountains of the deep erupting, the flood waters, rising above the hills, etc. perhaps I could interview Noah himself (if we could understand each other) and make a video of it. I would also take barometric readings, water levels, take water samples from the fountains and from the local rivers, etc. If given the time, I would demonstrate that the world was one continent... perhaps buy some maps from local cartographers.

Sounds good. You'd also want photographic documentation of the flood receding. And after the water was gone, you'd want to drill into the ground for crust samples--I'd say you'd need at least several kms in depth for good information. And to document world wide flooding, you'd need thousands of samples from all quadrants of the earth's surface. And each one labeled with exact latitude and longitude.

Tell me, AV -- is it sloth or delusions of grandeur that compel you to demand that we prove your insipid theology for you?

Nothing. If the flood was real there would be massive amounts of evidence and present day geologists would acknowledge it.

I'd bring back all the evidence left behind by the flood that would show that it occurred.

New Orleans, five years after one of the worst hurricanes in U.S. history:

Look at all that 'massive evidence' of flooding --

If it looks like this by a less-than-omnipotent clean-up crew, think what an omnipotent clean-up crew would have done.

Weird... it's almost like you picked that photo on purpose...

Here's another one:

Hmmm... I guess there are definitely still some signs of the flood, huh?

Easy. In whatever form, method, and/or container was necessary to bring all of the evidence of the flood.
And what would you bring back that isn't here already, that would convince scientists that they were wrong to assume the Flood didn't exist?

The Ark? I'm sure that would gender a few laughs.

A cup of water from the Flood? that would really get a laugh.

A note from Noah? we already have one.

Wow! what an amazing refutation AV. A picture of new Orleans looks normal therefore Flood. Got anything else? Maybe you could post a picture of a piece of wood floating and claim it as evidence that a boat the size of the Ark would have no problems?

If it looks like this by a less-than-omnipotent clean-up crew, think what an omnipotent clean-up crew would have done.

Would they plant evidence of events that never happened? Because if not then your flood theory has got a big problem.

Dear Ms. O'Grady,

Jimmy is excused from science class today on account of all of geology being a lie.

Your sincerely
Noah
