I think the goal is to show that since flying squirrels don't actually fly, that science is the Big Poopie. Even though the term "flying squirrel" is a common name, not a scientific one. Of course, anyone who is wrong or bad, or makes a mistake is a "scientist" by default, according to AVET.

I'm tired of hearing how science is so self-correcting.

If it is, why is the designation "flying" still active?

It seems to me that scientists will choose what mistakes to correct, and what mistakes not to correct.

So, I was correct after all. One more time.... the term "flying squirrel" is the common name, not a scientific name. In any case, its just a name. No scientist claims they are capable of powered flight. I would even challenge you to show me that a scientist ever did think they were capable of powered flight.

As for the rest, I'm sorry you are tired of the fact that science is self-correcting... but it is.

They used to be flying squirrels, but we all voted on a new definition and those squirrels are no longer flyers. They are now dwarf flyers which is really not a demotion, but simply a reclassification.
