Hello and welcome! A suggestion from me: J. Vernon McGee has a daily commentary called "through the Bible" and it takes 5 years to complete. These are old radio broadcasts and he takes each book of the Bible at a digestable pace. I have found it very rewarding and can't wait each day to get into the scripture. A Google search will get you there.

Hi Geoffrey! I am also new to Christianity, and although I have read (parts of) the Bible before, this is the first time in my life that I feel a literal compulsion to study it. I am seriously impressed (as another poster said) that you manged to get through Leviticus without any problems! Wow! I continue to struggle with many books of the OT (Levitcus being one of them). I love the psalms and proverbs, though. They speak Truth to me in a way that other books of the OT do not at this stage in the development of my discernment and knowledge. I also second the suggestion of focusing on the Gospels... Studying the Way and teachings of Christ is really helping shed light on some of the texts that I struggle with. I also downloaded a Bible app, and have subscribed to some reading plans... I am finding this really helpful in terms of holding me accountable on a daily basis, and also in terms of navigating my way through Scripture. There is also an option to highlight and make notes, which I am finding so very valuable to organising my study! I must say, though, sometimes I feel as if God is leading me towards certain passages, and in these cases, only my physical (paper) Bible will do. Perhaps this is just me, but I do feel a greater connection to God using a physical book, but use the app as well for general study (I often re read passages I have felt speak to me when on the app in my physical copy, so that I might feel a greater connection to them). I hope some of the suggestions made here help... If anyone feels as if I have given unhelpful advice, please pull me up on it... I am very "young" in terms of Scriptural discernment, and am welcoming of advice and correction!

Thank you tp552 for leading me to through The Bible I found it very helpful and the sermon is a blessing. I am going to be sure to tune in everyday, I think hearing a sermon everyday is a great way to stay in touch with God all the time. Nothing wrong with church every day in stead of once a week, heh. Also Prudance Ann thank you for your advice and letting me know how you feel about my post, I'm very outgoing and love talking to people as much as possible. About what you said about feeling God is leading you towards certain scriptures, my friend said that when God wants you to do something it starts with a desire. :) :) :) Tx everyone, I'm at the end of Proverbs and I like how its about David's Son Solomon and his advice on life on how to be a good person.

Another ministry that has been a blessing is the Christian radio station. It helps me with praise and worship during the week and brings my heart back to where it should be. I just always keep it in my car and house on that channel.

Praise is important too!

I'm so happy to hear about your wonderful walk with God. You are definitely on the right track. Praise be to God.

Geoffrey-go back and listen to Dr McGee's sermons on Proverbs (I think it was December of 2013, go into the archives and you can bring up each day and listen), it gave me insight into this Book that I had not seen before.

I am so pleased that you found my post helpful! By the way... I love, love, love the Book of Proverbs! I am currently rereading it alongside the Psalms... Really heart meltingly beautiful stuff!

Blessings and love to you.:hug:
