  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey everyone,

This is my first post! Cheers and tears. Does everyone post here often? I don't know a single name yet, I just see 93,000 members and that's crazy. A little about me... I'm an A1C in the Air Force. Air Traffic Control (RAPCON) Stationed at Vance AFB, Oklahoma - one of the busiest pilot training bases in the world.

I was going to post a link, but I need a post count first. :(

Anyway, good meeting everyone.

Josh

Nice meeting you, Josh. Please feel free to introduce yourself in the other introduction forum "New Member Intros".

I am in the USAF as well and attending a Baptist church too. :) I'm not too far away from you when I am not deployed. I am a B-52 navigator down at Barksdale.

Glad to see you on! God bless you.
Dave

Doom was the other I couldn't think of. I know I know, A-10s... My sunday school teacher flew those at Eielson. But they can't compare to a T-anything. My job is more interesting here because it's 1000 brand new pilots who get confused on the radio all the time, so we have to repeat ourselves over and over. But then a heavy B52 comes through and sounds like he's been at it 50 years. good times

Warthog's rule.(of course that was long ago, in Galaxy far,far....no, this galaxy)
A-10, the plane that you fly, not the computer you tell what to do.
Welcome.

lol, there's an article that we laugh at in the most recent USAF safety journal titled "I have no HUD, how do I land?" For us, the pilots fastest computer is his slip stick (modified slide rule). :)

I hated all the inflight emergencys. I was in Security.
"....Be advised you need to repond to INflight, A-10 blah, blah, blah, has a
warning light on."
Never heard the pilot radio traffic.
But still interesting times.

As I was saying, the A-10 is the closest to old fashion flying. You feel the controls. Not just a joystick to a computer. Up close and personal to the targets.
They are tough but they still crash hard. On a fatal crash sight in AZ.
the biggest piece was one piece of an engine.(Az ground is mostly sundried clay too)
