Visited my Father today and he is basically drowning in his own fluid. He is now on heavy doses of Morphine yet still in pain. They increased the dose again and the frequency. He is close to death and I am getting the Priest to give last Rites tomorrow.

If you could, please pray for a quick end to his suffering and a prayer for his salvation.

I asked God to grant mercy, forgive him his sins, save his soul, give him a peaceful death and comfort his love ones.

... and maybe change the pain meds? Morphine has a bad habit of making it difficult to breathe. Also, some just don't respond to morphine. I know that because you could give me a near lethal dose of the stuff, and it wouldn't relieve any pain. It might be worth the switch even though he's this close to passing on, just to make him more comfortable.

I know that sounded rotten, but it's with the best intentions, I promise. I only said that as an idea to ease his transition...

No problem. I understand. They felt Morphine was the way toward go.

Can a mod move this thread? OP accidentally posted this in the politics thread.

With that said, I feel ya. So sorry to hear. His last breath on Earth will be his first breath in Eternity.

Thanks. I was tired last night and did post it in the wrong forum.

Eternal Father I offer the Body, Blood, Soul, and divinity of your dearly beloved Son towards eastcoast' father. For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on him and the whole world.

Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify him.
Body of Christ, save him.
Blood of Christ, inebriate him.
Water from the side of Christ, wash him.
Passion of Christ, strengthen him.
O Good Jesus, hear him.
Within Thy wounds hide him.
Suffer him not to be separated from thee.
From the malignant enemy defend him.
In the hour of his death call him.
And bid him come unto Thee,
That with all Thy saints,
he may praise thee
Forever and ever.
Amen

Grant him mercy and peace dear God.
Amen.
