Hi hear ,
The first thing to do in a difficult situation is praise The Lord with understanding , of His Greatness and Undying Love .
The Lord inhabits his people's praise ! ( See Psalm 22:3 )
You should clearly give thanks that you are enlightened enough to know not to follow , or believe in , that which sharply contradicts with the testimony of Jesus , in this matter .
Surely , anyone following their ungodly lusts , cannot be trusting in The Lord at the same time .[ If that is indeed the case with him ? ]
For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? <-----> Luke 6:43-46
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. <-----> John 8:34
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? <-----> Romans 6:16
Satan wants us to either believe we've got no potential at all for being accepted by God .
Or that , we can be accepted by Him , without following the Spirit of Jesus Christ , which affirms the Lord's instructions to us daily .
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63
I don't know the context of the quote you gave as your Dad's -" Jesus was not perfect ..."
If I was to try and find any way in which this could have some sense of truth , ( realizing that words have a variety of possible meanings ) , I would look at this Scripture -
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him . <-----> Hebrews 5:8+9
This is referring to the human element in Jesus , that had to be disciplined and brought into subjection , even as do we , with ours .
One could say then , that Jesus wasn't perfect in human form , until his humanity was brought under complete subjection to God ; which required that he lay down his life for our sinful souls' sake .
And these thing's he did without sin !
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. <-----> Hebrews 4:15
But until Jesus fulfilled the law and all that was written concerning him ; he was not yet perfect - in the sense of not having fulfilled God's perfect will in it's entirety .
So in this sense , one could say Jesus was not perfect , as a man , until he had fully submitted to The Father's will .
But , if you're Dad meant - Jesus wasn't perfect ,[ either ], as an attempt to justify our own contradicting of the Spirit of Truth .
That's a whole other issue . One of denial , and deceit .
Pray for him .
We can be sure , that if any knew now , what we will know then ( Day of The Lord ) , we would sooner die as a martyr , then commit even the smallest offence against God !
Darkness is not whisked away , but by the Light of Jesus Christ .
Keep taking those steps which open us up to letting Him Shine !
Namely believing on his Word , with a good conscience towards God .
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. <-----> Isaiah 60:1+2
Thanks for asking " hear no evil " , I needed to hear this advice !
Sincerely ,
