  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If I could have the life I want (or at least the one I think I want ;)) This is what it would look like:

I wouldn't have to work. But I would probably have my own photography business because that is what I love. I would have a bigger house (mine is about 1365 sq ft) at least 2500-3000 sq ft. equipped with a basement and a home studio.
I would have a great companion for a husband. Someone that cherished me as much as I them. Someone that was into music and possibly played an instrument.
We would travel alot. Do outside activities, like hiking, camping, jet skiing or boating.
We would be generous with our time, treasures and talents and we would do it together, helping people whenever we saw the need.
We would have family gatherings. Big groups with lots of fun and laughter. We would celebrate knowing Jesus everyday.
We would pray together and wait on the Lord for decisions that were not easy to make without counsel.
Our kids would be serving the Lord and doing well at living life. We would be blessed because of them.

There's probably more, but that's what my dream life looks like. What does yours look like?

Well, I think anyone who reads my posts knows that I only want more sex in my life! lol

I mean they should already have a pretty good idea what I want in life. Having the money to retire, not work and travel sure would be nice! Can add that to the list.

My dream life would to be independently wealthy,as you know who,as to not have to work. I would be able to perform in my church's Drama Ministry,Easter,Summer Muscial, and Christmas, full time. To be able to travel. To be able to go to all of the 49er road games, and some Giants road games.

And let's say it is a warm, and sunny Wednesday, the middle of the week.
I could say to myself,"It is such a nice day. I think I'll just go fishin,not fishing,but....... fishin. :)

I would continue to pay my thithes and offerings,of course. :)

To be able to share this with someone, who is my tpye of lady.
That would be the icing on the cake.

Dream life....well, since my husband has died, I have newer dream to help people die. I don't think that our society prepares people for this phase of life...and it is a phase that we all eventually face. I am now pursuing my nursing degree to so that I can do this while having money to live and finance two teenagers....

I also love working with children...helping them to see their value especially when others don't.

(I hope God doesn't see fit to combine these two passions though...helping dying children might be too much).

I'd also like to take my kids to see the things we study about in school. I'd like to see the pyramids...my daughter wants to see Greece and the Parthenon...my son, well, he'd be happy where-ever we went however, he mentioned the Grand Canyon today.

If I had unlimited funds, I probably spend the next couple years living at the ice rink with my daughter....alternating only with time at the baseball fields with my son.

I agree that we are never prepared enough for death. We ALL know it's coming and yet when it does, it devastates us. I can't speak to what it does to the one that is dying, obviously but for the family and friends, even if we know the time is short, we aren't prepared.
My husband was tired....tired of fighting to live with no change. It was his time though, I am assured of that because we all have an appointed time according to the bible. I did not know that I would be a widow at 46 and did not know that I would be alone from then til now.
I am content with who I am mostly, and am still unsure about my destiny. I am very grateful to know Jesus as my Savior and would not want to go thru what I did without knowing Him. I would not want to experience one minute without Him so....
Very admirable of you to become a nurse to help people. Good for you!

Thank you for saying it is admirable....but it is a calling and not something I'd do for admiration sake. I expect to wear my share of body fluids that don't belong to me...but I also think I'll get to meet people at their most honest point in life...and some of the conversations I'll have will be the deepest and most real of their lifetimes. I hope that I'll get to spend more time holding people's hands than administering medications.

I think that is what life is about...touching and connecting with people.

Well I just meant it in the sense that, it's great that you can do that job. I don't think I could handle it myself. I know what you mean about it being a calling and it is good that you are following what you feel God is leading you to so that's what I meant. I couldn't think of a word to use other than that, but I certainly know you aren't doing it for admiration.
And that IS what life is all about. I help people when I can, and touch people when I can. If I had the guts to be a nurse I would, but it's just not in me and I know that. I could end up volunteering for Hospice in the future though, just not in a medical copacity. I DO have a great respect for the people that can do that.:hug::hug:

I think that working in the Medical Field is a calling, and only special people are equiped to do it.

In 1973,I was going to Lab Assistant School in the Navy. I was only 19 years old. Yet,I had to assist a doctor to an autopsy on a patient named Mr. L..... Before I went to lab school,I had to work on the hospital wards. I knew and took care of Mr. L.,when he was alive!

I saw the doctor cut into his lifeless body.I saw the doctor use a saw to cut his head open.I saw his brain. The brain looks that same as it does in the text books. However,I kept getting the internal organs wrong,as the doctor had to keep correcting me. The internal organs look so much different in real life,as they do in the text books. The smell of formaldehyde stayed in my nose for the rest of the day.

Right after the autopsy was over, I had lunch.I had fried chicken. The chicken smelled like formaldehyde. I could not taste the chicken. It was then that I found out that I have a strong stomach.

Most people could not have been able to go through that experience.

My dream life would be to wake each day completely pain-free and to be able to run along the beach as the sun rises with no fear of not being able to breath again. It would include being able to sit in the shade under a couple of palm trees while a cool breeze washes over my face as I ate ice cold pineapple slices with strawberries and having a heart to heart talk with Jesus about what life will be like in Heaven for eternity.

Finally, each day would come to an end with someone who loved me as I loved her and I could sit with her on that very same beach around a warm glowing firepit and share with her what Jesus and I talked about earlier that morning. That would be my dream life. All of the riches in the world couldn't buy one nano second of that!!!

Sounds similar to being in the Garden of Eden

I don't think my dream life will actually happen until the millenium. I long for a world where there is no evil. Where we don't have to fear each other, or any creatures on land or sea. Where everything is amazing! and beautiful and as God intended it to be in the beginning before sin entered it. Streets of Gold and crystal clear water and trees with all kinds of fruits! Where everyday will be a new adventure, exciting, fulfilling and peaceful all at the same time. All I know is I'm not home here and this is not where I belong.

I'm guessing that you stand the greatest chance of getting your dream life...it sounds like heaven to me.

I just caught the very end of a new program on TV called "700 Club Interactive" and Gordon Robertson said something about "God's original plan was for us to all be living in the Garden of Eden where He could come down in the evenings and talk with all of us". ??? It wasn't exactly those same words that he used but, that was the basic message.

Is anyone familiar with this plan? Is this located in the Bible somewhere? Thanks in advance and God Bless Y'all.

Well that's what He (God) did in the beginning when He placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. That ended when they were deceived by the devil and realized they were naked and sin entered the world. It's in Genesis 2 starting with verse 8 thru chapter 3:19

Well, looks like ole' Adam screwed that whole plan up then eeh? Lots of folks blame it on Eve but, I always felt Adam should have been strong enough to convince her not to listen to the serpent so... Adam was the weak one in my eyes???

Ya, people like to say what the world would be like based on a few words in Gen.1-3 when there was only 2 people! Yes, sin messed it up. But say there was no sin and we have over 6 Billion people ... I'm sure that changes things a lot from the garden!

Also, it seems as tho the garden was just a small part of the earth. What was it like outside the garden in those days?

I don't think its right to extrapolate from 2 people to billions and say the world today would be just like it was when.

Well no, not in that sense, but think about this...what about being able to go swimming in an ocean or a lake without fear of sharks, or alligators . How about being able to explore the mountains without fear of falling and dying, or of snakes, or wasps or bees? What about there being no dead anythings, no dead plants? trees? Just beautiful lush land! What about having a perfect body, free of pain and disease and also probably looking pretty good too? How about it being perfect weather all the time!!! And the water being crystal clear? And things not breaking or rotting or being ruined in anyway? And then you have to consider out of the billions of people here on earth today, how many are just plain evil? How many will actually choose Jesus and be in Heaven?
