  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Nature isn't my God. Nature just... is. I don't worship it, and I don't follow its commandments.

Nature is the charging elephant. You don't have to worship it, but it would be prudent to not get in its way.

Yes. Nature is evil by man's standards. I really don't get why people don't see his question and reason for doing so. Maybe I'm misunderstanding?

Nature is not evil by any standards. Only an intelligent, self aware entity can be evil.

So you believe slavery is not immoral and an okay practice?

For an intelligent self aware moral entity to enslave another self aware moral entity is an evil.

So why the concern for dogs abuse then? Where do you justify the ceasing of Moral entities? Humans or a specific species?

You really don't know how discussions work do you? :sigh:

He was talking about nature; you tried to make it about him. I'm not the one who's confused here.

In your opinion, did Darwin approve of slavery?

And I'll say this ahead of time for those of you who think unilaterally:

Just don't assume I'm talking about Homos.

Hint: Polyergus rufescens.
Possibly.

Where did "dogs abuse" come in and just what sort of abuse are you referring to?

Do you fear her?

Unneeded personification aside, I for one respect nature. But then I respected guns whenever I handled them loaded or "not". Anything that can kill you if you make a mistake should be given some respect. If you could show that your God existed we would respect him too. We might not worship him, since worship should be earned, but God that could kill someone would merit respect. But since there is no more evidence for your God than there is for Allah or Zeus I hope that you don't mind if the respect is not there on our part yet.
