3. A teacher that teaches we came from Adam, and not Magilla Gorilla, isn't going to prevent one of her students from going on to hybridize winter wheat or the edible banana, find oil, square a circle, or anything else that is pending discovery.

Yes he will. A college student who wants a good start needs a good deal of factual knowlegde. To know what an acid is, the structure of DNA, basic algebra, etc. But above all, this college student needs to be familiarized with the scientific method, with the notion that empirical evidence trumps authority.
The teacher that teaches that we come from Adam will have failed in both aspects. Planted wrong facts in the students head and will have insisted that authority trumps research. Worth, if fiiting the mold of the conservative christians as explained in different papers linked above, he will have planted a distrust in science, an anti-research attitude.
He will has stumped a possible career and deprived the nation of a functional brain.
