As I write this, it's hard. My father has been battling various ailments for a few years now. Last summer he suffered total kidney failure and has been on dialysis three times a week.

As of two days ago my father's legs stopped working. Unsure of the cause, and unable to transport him myself I called an ambulance to take him to the hospital.

The short of it is this, his time is very short. Fluid build up around his heart and lungs has given him congestive heart failure, his blood pressure is so low that they can't risk dialysis any more. In the best circumstance he would only have one or two weeks left; but in addition he has an infection that is causing his body septic shock. As far as I know when I was visiting with him a little bit ago might be the last time I get to talk to him, and tell him I love him.

He's at peace. He's ready to go home to be with our precious Lord Jesus. He's ready to go and see my mom again. He's ready to see his sister, and my grandparents. He's ready. But even though I know that he's ready, and I know that he'll be home with the Lord, saying goodbye--even though I know it is only temporary since in Christ there is no goodbye. Though I know this, it's still very hard. I love my father very deeply. He has been there for me my entire life, he's been there to tell me and teach me about Jesus. To live out his faith in Christ toward me as a kind, and very loving father.

Mostly I want to tell you all about my father. But also ask for prayer. Prayer for my family, my uncle (his brother), my cousins and their children. For my younger brother who this is hitting harder than even for me.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Amen.

Lord have mercy upon your father and yourself and everyone else touched by this situation.

Graciously, O Lord, repose ViaCrucis' father in the bosom of our holy fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Sustain him in a green pasture, by the water of rest in the Paradise of joy; the place out of which grief, sorrow and groaning have fled away, in the light of Your saints.

    Lord have mercy.

    The good news,

In heaven, he will have a palace to live in and will remember you and ask about you and God will let him see you at times.

He will be truly surrounded by real people who will talk to him and love him for ever, then, when you get there, you will live right next to him forever.

    How do i know this?

    Don't ask, just know.

God Father, the death of righteous can be sweet , peaceful even joy, though sorrow can’t be avoided to relative. Your comfort is stronger than the threaten of illness and death. May Jesus’ precious blood and Spirit cover ViaCrucis’father with especially rest more than supposed, and this rest can comfort his relative. May God send angels to welcome his father. Amen.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and father.

As I read your post it brought tears to my eyes….I lost my dad to kidney failure. While he lived for many years after a kidney transplant eventually it failed and he and my mother had to deal with infections and dialysis for some time until the Lord took him peaceably while he was in the hospital. I am thankful the Lord gave us the time to say good bye and thank him for all he did for us.

Remember that things that are seen are temporal. Things not seen are eternal. God tells us in John 3:15-16, 5:24 that those who believe have eternal life. It can be difficult for those left behind but I found comfort knowing that my father was finally free from his pain, the frequent infections and the chains of dialysis and had moved on to a glorious eternal life with Christ.

Sounds like your father did a great job raising you and your brother. Thankfully you have each other and the rest of your family and most importantly a love for God.

May God give you the peace that you seek and may the soul of your father be at peace with our Heavenly Father.

First of all I want to thank everyone for their prayers.

My dad passed at around midnight tonight, and went to be home with the Lord.

I'm still processing, so I don't have much to say--except to again thank everyone who offered their prayers. Thank the Lord for all of you.

    And then this,
