Oh, pleae don't dread the teen years! They can be so wonderful! What your kids will be like as teens has much to do with how you raise them now, when they are 2. (For the record, I found 2 delightful! It was 3 that almost put me 'round the bend! ) When kids become teens you can really have conversations with them! They really begin to come into their own and you begin to get a look at what they are going to be like as adults. Interaction with them can be about ideas and values.

My remarks are not just addressed to you, by any means. I know many parents share your feelings. Each age has its challenges and rewards. Some of us prefer one stage to another, but they can all be wonderful. Please don't start bemoaning teens already! They will need your love very much when they get there!

Thank you for this encouraging post. I hardly ever hear good things about the teenage years. I just wonder how it could be so terrible to have teenagers in the house .

Finally....he can mow the lawn, get a job to buy his own clothes, clean the bathroom, vacuum the carpets, wash the cars, and I can finally watch a whole game on TV without interruption....it'll be just dandy! It's just a matter of perspective folks....

Note: you know I'm being partly facetious.

Though my wife and I frequently joke around that our daughter's going come up to us one sunny afternoon and say, "Mom... dad... there are some guys from the FBI here to ask you some questions. Something about crashing websites... by the way, I was not on-line just now..."

I already got out of doing dishes and setting the table every night . I have 2 wonderful dish washers/table busser to do it now . Now if I could just get them to do laundry and clean the bathroom..............
