ok...I was just wondering if you guys could tell me what you think of a character of mine based on one thing she says. If you could at least just take a minute and vote in the poll that would be great

Years ago, you taught me an important lesson; you taught me that I am not invincible. Today I plan to teach you the same.

so what do you think about her? likable or not? Blessings to everybody who gives me their opinions

Hm.....I said that she sounds determined. But I'd have to know where she's saying it, who she's saying it to, what the look on her face is, and the what the relationship between her and the person she's talking to is like to really make a fair judgement.

I agree with Lessien, I'm not sure whats going on between the two characters, but it definetly sounds like she's determined.

She seems very determined, as if trying to prove something to someone who she has had a grudge against since whatever caused the grudge happened... Then again, that's just what popped into my head...

Hmmm...

It is hard to tell from one sentence the character of a person, even a ficticious one...

Within the quoted part of the exchange, the character comes off as arrogant, assuming that the prior teacher does not have the same knowledge, and implying that the character in question is "better" than the other party...

I like her!

She seems strong and bent on some sort of purpose (whatever that purpose may be; perhaps to prove a point?) Whatever it is, it's important to her to make whatever lesson this other person taught her to be known to him b/c apparently he needs the schooling lol. She sounds like she's a hurt soul though...and that fragility could spill over into other aspects of her life. This makes her even more likable because she's showing a more vulnerable side to her character. She's not complelely cold-hearted (though you could easily turn her into a cold-hearted character if you wanted to), but perhaps a little bitter (?) and she's driven to "right" the "wrong" that she witnessed through this other person.


I say go on, girl.

Determined. She sounds awesome. I haven't read any of the other posts, but I immediately saw a scene in my head - your character holding a sword to her old teacher after defeating him in a big battle. She speaks the line looking him straight in the eye, triumphantly and determined.

it's actually right before the big battle and she doesn't use a sword...but other than that you got the scene right

I say arrogant, but mostly because it sounds like something one of my faves from Soul Calibur, or a villain from Starcraft would say, and they are both VERY arrogant. But, hey, thats just my predisposition. I dunno, maybe they're just determined and are saying something that sounds arrogant?

I said "Other" because she's never arrogant, sometimes determined, but mostly other stuff. I can't think of one specific thing that she's said that would be her defining quote, if there be such a thing, but it's more in her actions & how she treats those around her with gentleness & kindness & the true love of God. She's not perfect & does make mistakes with people as in other parts of her life, and sometimes she gives in to negative peer pressure (not drinking or smoking or drugs or other bad stuff like that, but just stupid stuff), but she never wavers in her faith. Someone said that she couldn't be real because she's never even thought of leaving Jesus behind, but I'm like that - I've never thought of being without Jesus, & I'm writing about her & her friends from my point of view & from my life experiences with a few of my friends' thrown in for good measure.

Does this make sense?

Still,if she is staging a scene with her "arrogance" and temper...that can be seen as a female with some spine..some major backbone and that in a sense is power. what's her weapon anyways?
