Now I wish to know the correct answer... I'm not seeing it, which is annoying, because I'm at the office and have work to do, lol.
You've got Strathos to blame for that!

He wanted me to post a challenge that 'made sense'. ;)

Idd, missed that one, which seems to mess up everything.

hmmmm

I used to be good at such chess problems. It's been faaaar to long. :)

Rook takes bishop. king can either move out of the way or take rook. either way mate can be forced

White to move and win.
Is that a legit chess problem, or one you came up with? I see two ways to put black in check, neither seems to sufficiently narrow blacks options, turning it more into a slow attrition than a forced mate.

It is the puzzle-of-the-day on chess.com.

Maybe Brent can reopen it with a good chess program?

Lets Talk About Blessings

I find the idea of playing chess on here quite appealing. Hubby's not one for chess, and my daughter isn't good enough to challenge me seriously (although there are no doubt players on here that would wipe the floor with me! I'm just a hobbiest player).

Everyone who follows the world championships has seen that one before. In addition to what AV said, if black takes the queen with the king, Rh8 is mate.

Here's something a bit more obscure, and difficult:

dynboard

White to move and win.

Hint: Don't think it's as simple as taking the queen
