• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi:wave:

And welcome to this area of CF!!!
I want to say i think it's wonderful that you are reaching out for help!

See what i find, is no matter how many times you run that over and over in your head, it's not going to play out the same!

I would suggest you just walk in and let what ever comes out be the words! God will be with you!

I am unsure what the laws are in your country, so there i cannot help you, are they legally required to tell your parents?

But lets say they suggest that you do?
Lets just go out on a limb and honestly look at what they would say and do?

Now i do not know your parents, only you do, but rationally , open minded, how do you honestly think they would react?

See now i am a mom i have 5 girls, i know you are a boy, but mine are girls, me i have anorexia, but recovering, s l o w process, but when they come to me with anything i never get mad, ever! And do you know why?
Because 1st i love them with such an a love that i would die for them , but they trusted me Enough to come to me with something so difficult!

I Pray your parents are the same!
I have learned so much From the Lord and being a Mom , He has Shown me such Love!!!! I will Pray for you!!!

Thanks, yeah I would plan it out and mot likely just saw what I thought but what im really nervous of is that they make me go to my parents or something, i'd prefer just to see a school counselor. ;D

Hey there firstly well done on reaching out for help. That's awesome! In regards to the UK law and eating disorders, it depends on how old you are and how bad the situation actually is. I will say though, although it is hard to tell family of your problem it really does help to have their support when you are going through recovery.

I know that especially being a guy you may feel like you want to try and beat it yourself but chances are your school counsellors will link you with some other organisations that will be able to help. It is a process to get better and there nearly always is a reason behind why you're carrying out bulimic behaviour in the first place. If that is not addressed then it can be very hard to recover.

The U.K has plenty of options available and you should find that the health care staff that are aware of eating disorders are very understanding and helpful. If you would like any links to U.K information or want to talk or anything feel free to pm me. I'm bulimc myself, but in the recovery stage now so I've used alot of sources myself and I also have a male family member with an eating disorder so I have some idea of what guys approach to this is like.

I realise you posted this thread a while back now but if you're still in need of information then feel free to pm me. Take care.

I have the same problem, and I'm making appointments with a professional and the first time I went I just said everything and anything, i wouldnt stress about it.
Bulimia has been such a challenge, a real trial of my faith. Every time I binge ate and then purged was "the last time", and for me it has gone on for too long I dont even know when it started.
I really want to know what your story with bulimia is / was like.
God's blessings on you, I will be praying for you and a quick recovery! :)
